Beyond: Two Souls

Post » Sun Oct 13, 2013 3:49 pm

I haven't seen a thread for this game, so I figured I'd make one. Beyond: Two Souls comes from Quantic Dream, the same company that developed Heavy Rain. As a big fan of the company's work, I pre-ordered the game and picked it up the day it came out.

I just beat it, and it's one of those games that's very difficult to evaluate. I certainly liked the game, but beyond that, for the time being, it's tough for me to come to a more accurate decision on it. Unlike many games that you finish and can immediately point to why you did or didn't like it, there are some elements of the game that I'm definitely torn on and need a bit of time to think about.

So, have any of you guys played it? What did you think?

I finished the game as well, but I find the game story to be amazing experience and the ending choice was extremely difficult for me to choose. Although I will say the game controls is alright but could use some fine tuning in my opinion.

I haven't played it but my first questions would be: Did you enjoy it? Would you play it again?

It's on the PS3 as an exclusive, right? Depending on what people think, I might just pick it up.

Yes I would play again and in fact I will do it again just have a different type of ellie. As my first Ellie was a girl who was sensitive and have good control of Aiden, but in my next play through my Ellie will be a girl who social, evasive, powerful, and best of all let Aiden have his fun.

I'm thinking of renting this game from Gamefly first to check it out. It looks interesting.

Though I must ask one thing: Why, when told that she has with her a ghost that can operate outside her will, does everyone suddenly start antagonizing her? Granted I wouldn't really believe her, but still, just in case...

Because people are stupid in that game at times, and don't really buy into ohhh you have ghost that can force choke, flip tables, or take over people bodies....Yeah sure.

Got it the day it came out, not because I was excited, but I felt like reviewing it. It's pretty bad. David Cage is an awful writer and the style of gameplay isn't as interesting as it was when Heavy Rain came out. It's never boring per se, but it's incredibly flawed.

Here's the http://plus10damage.com/blog/2013/10/9/beyond-two-souls-review in case anyone is interested.

I mean, that type of gameplay was never particularly interesting. There are certain gamers who look past clearly flawed gameplay for a good story, and others who care more about the gameplay itself.

Looks like pure melodrama to me. With bad gameplay. Cage should try making a movie, although that might not work for him either.

It can work in certain situations. Telltale does the interactive story well and Heavy Rain was at least an intriguing, but at this point Quantic Dream's style isn't polished enough to get by on simply being interesting.

Well he can't write for [censored]. He's had a few decent ideas, but his execution is awful.
