PC version of Batman AA, AC got GFWL patched out

Post » Fri Oct 18, 2013 6:10 pm

No idea if this is ok but I just want to let all PC gamers who have the PC version of Batman: Arkham Asylum and the PC version of Batman: Arkham City regular versions on Steam got upgraded for free to Game of the Year Edition (GotY) and Games for Windows Live (GFWL) also got patched out today with Steam Trading Cards getting added as well. If you already own both Batman AA and AC Game of the Year Edition (GotY) on Steam you still get Games for Windows Live (GFWL) patched out and Steam Trading Cards.

I do not own Batman AC on Steam but I do own Batman AA and I got like a 92.0MB patch today.

So if you held off on playing both Batman video games go play now and enjoy all the Steam Works features that got added like Steam Achievements and Steam Trading Cards :D.

Oh and Capcom will patch Games for Windows Live (GFWL) out of all of their PC versions of video games that have (GFWL) and transition all of them to Steam Works before July 2014 when Microsoft shuts down the (GFWL) servers.

I thought it would be nice to inform PC gamers about this who don't know anything about it :D.

NOTE: If you purchased Batman AA or AC off of the (GFWL) marketplace store you can use your CD Keys, codes or whatever to get it from Steam for free same if you got a physical boxed version from what I heard and from GMG or other digital distribution websites.

Oh SecuROM is patched out as well guys.

Securom seem to be gone too, can't find any information about it on the Steam store pages anymore. Very nice, since the Arkham City Securom activations messed up for me.

EDIT: For some reason I can't register my retail copy of Arkham Asylum, bleh.

Does this mean that if someone bought Batman AC now would also get it upgraded automatically to GOTY or does it only apply to people who already have it?

I don't know if it applies to people who bought Batman AC now only people who have had Batman AA and AC purchased already if it's the regular version you get upgraded to the Game of the Year Edition (GotY) for free.

Both Batman AA and AC are on sale today though. Batman AA is $5 dollars (USD) and Batman AC is $7.50 (USD)

Some people are still having problems activating their CD Keys, codes or whatever though. Batman AA for me got upgraded for free to the Game of the Year Edition (GotY) because I already owned Batman AA since like 2009 or 2010.

I was thinking of buying the physical copy as a gift to someone and just wanted to know if it made any sense getting the GOTY given this new development. Sounds like it might do.
