The Zombie Apocalypse: How Would You Survive 20yrs

Post » Fri Oct 18, 2013 8:43 pm

Pretty simple really what would you do to try and survive 20 years during the zombie apocalypse.

Rules.

Your playing yourself so if your a cop or in the military your going to have access to more equipment then if your a student in college

You also need to survive in your current location but are allowed to move within 50 mile radius of where you live now so if you live in London you cant hop on a plane to america

Also you wont be getting infected your immune but your family are not so you just need to worry about where you live, protection, food etc.

If i think of any more rues or any of you think of any then ill add them later

I may turn this into a poll later aswell.

I'd get myself a meat tenderizer as my first weapon as it'd be real good to bash a zombies head in, I don't need to be precise like a hammer and I don't need to use an excessive amount of force either. After I've gotten that I'd of course try to avoid getting torn to pieces while collecting supplies from nearby houses and move closer to the city, I'd go to an area that is isolated and has open ground locked in with a fence so that I could take it over and call it my new home. Along the way I'd get myself a nail gun and stock up on a lot of ammo for it. See a nail gun doesn't need brute force to kill an enemy, nor do I need to worry about where to find ammo for it as any hardware store will have copious amounts of it and it's quite easy to kill zombies with. Just move in relatively close, Thwck! And the zombie's down.

Now after I've cleared out said area I would try to get others to move in there as well, I'd have to take the chance with survivors as there is strength in numbers and all I can do is put blind faith in them. Once we're all settled in we would reinforce the fences around the area and stock up on supplies, going out on runs every couple of days to bring back loot. But the most important thing is to get irrigation and agriculture going as fast as possible as food will go bad quickly.

Then we farm a little, maybe set up some sort of wind-power so we can get electricity, we go out on runs every once in a while and every day someone has the duty to walk along the fence and kill the zombies leaning against it. Eventually, when winter comes, the town is ours. See zombies already suffer from rigor mortis so when the cold comes in do you think they will be smart enough to get dressed? And hell, a swedish winter can get absurdly cold. So when the zombies have frozen down we'll simply walk around the town and smash as many heads in as we can. Hopefully we can set up a new barricade around a larger portion of the city so that come summer, we have more room to walk about.

That's the jist of it basically. As to whether or not we can survive 20 years that depends on raiders, cannibals, marauders, internal conflicts and deception about bites.

Another thing I'd do is wear leather. You ever tried to bite leather? It's real tough, so while the squeeze from a zombie bite might be painful it ain't gonna pierce through the leather which allows me further safety. Leather jacket, leather jeans (Although they will chafe(?) like crazy...), leather gloves; The whole deal. Only open part of my body would be my neck and head.

So yeah, just keep pushing through the summer until winter comes and then do as much work as possible to reclaim the city.

Alternatively I'd become a zombie exterminator (as cheesy as it sounds...), sure I'd need to learn how to properly defend myself and get a lot more fit, but the way I see it the longer it takes for us to purge the undead the longer they will stick around, and for every zombie we kill a living being might survive.

I'd more or less be 'The Brain' and try to set up my own enclave of society:

I'd set up in a nice hotel.
Barricade or brick up all first floor windows.

Have a no exceptions stripped nvde quarantine, anyone refusing to be searched for bites or sickness are turned away.

Enforce a locked doors at night policy along with night patrols on each floor.

If you're heading outside the compound for supply runs all returning runners will be searched for wounds or sickness as a safety procol.

Anyone showing symptoms of sickness are isolated for a period of time.

I could on about my plans I've thought out but that'd take a while.

Alternately, if I couldnt wrangle everyone up: I'd lock myself in there or the penthouse and wait for the end.

I'd gather up tons of food from nearby stores and houses, barricade myself in my own home, then wait for 20 years and hope that I don't get screwed by a Diabolus Ex Machina.

Idk I'd probably just hide under the bed or something

Spoiler
but seriously (when not under the bed), my BF actually plans what to do in these situations (not zombies, obviously), but since he is doing an engineering degree he has access to loads of chemicals and other crap and he's explained to me before he can quite quickly make this weapon and that, I just turn off cause lets be honest I'd be useless anyway

Now within a 50 miles radius it does very farm-landy so I'm sure we'd be able to scour a shotgun

Jump ahead maybe 10 years time from now I'm definitely going to have a shotgun anyway, though it has to be kept in a safe at all times I'm sure this would be an exception

All that said, don't think I'd last a year let alone 20 :D

Simple: I'd kill every living person I met in order to ensure my own survival.

Zombies are pretty much single-minded creatures. Stay out of the way and all's well.

But people... they'll screw you over in a heartbeat, so kill them. Kill them all.

Not all people! I'd want to set up a Tenpenny Tower sort of thing so people can be safe from the undead. D:

Zombies wouldn't be any trouble. The snakes, spiders and drop bears around here would get them all for me.

Knowing my survival skills I'd probably step on a rusty nail and die the first day from tetanus.

I'd probably have to fall back on my roots in chemistry to make myself useful in the new society.

Everyone knows for instance you need sulphur, saltpeter and charcoal to make gunpowder, but most people don't know the measures.

Remember that scene in Breaking Bad where Walter creates a car battery from scratch using acids and metals?

I could do stuff like that.
