Where's the distinction?

Post » Sat Oct 19, 2013 7:45 pm

When I saw the character creation video, I was very content with what I was seeing. Minus the ears, the Khajiit a lot better than what I was expecting.

As I'm sure all of us were looking to see how our favorite race turned out, I was looking at the Khajiit. mainly focused on their face, they were pretty cool looking Male Khajiit, only after the 2nd time I watched it, I looked down a bit further for a few of them... only to realize they were female Khajiit I was looking at.

Where is the facial distinction?! they look so masculine you can barely tell them apart besides the two big lumps on their chest!

I know what you're thinking, you can't really tell a cats genders apart in real life by their face, but Khajiit aren't cats, and in the past games this wasn't so.

Skyrim had the greatest distinction, and I thought It was nice that it took little effort to know which one is which, as you can see. http://i.imgur.com/ht2YjRd.png

Female Khajiit had thinner necks, bigger eyes, smaller head, and less pronounced Jaw.. thingy.

But here's a few of the Male-Female comparison's the video had at the near end. http://i.imgur.com/kK6iiuR.png

The best thing I can come up with is that Female's probably can't have beards, but I certainly don't feel like i'm looking at any girl's in that picture.

Sure I bet you can try to make them look feminine, but you could probably do as much with a Male Khajiit. you shouldn't have to put effort into making them look like their own gender.

you guys probably don't see where I'm coming from, anyone here who interprets something negative in these forums usually get's thrown down, but I doubt you would be quite happy if it was the same with your favorite race.

So glad Sheek-Ki isn't here atm.

OT: Going from your previous post where you said they look like lions mostly, I kinda have to agree with that statement. Myself, I'm not that bothered with it, even though I like Khajiit and their personalities. Who knows what you can do to change the way they look. And tbh, every ES game has had changes to how certain races looked. Even the raw structures of the faces changed over the course of the series. This is just another art direction, for another game that is aside of the SP series.

I can go with the art direction changing as it has been, but I feel TESO might have went a tiny bit further out of the comfort zone in change.

Suthay-raht Khajiit in the past games all had a unique feline look, they weren't really based off of a Cat species. the things they kept consistent were long pointy ears, triangular noses with small nostrils, and as mentioned by the whole thread, distinguishable genders.

@ the bolded part: Not entirely true imo. Take a look at the oblivion Khajiit for example: http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/040/2/d/oblivion_khajiit_j__mhad_by_aixapredator93-d395j8c.jpg

Looks more like a lion to me than anything else. Afaik the gender distinction goes.. I kind of agree with some of the screenshots. But remember that they use the triangle slider that can make faces look hooked and square. This makes them look alot more male. Play around with those and I'm sure you'll be fine.

I don't see it.

Lion's have rounded short ears, thinner non-rounded snouts that bridge down much further, un-pronounced jaw bone, and have whiskers.

The only connection is their Fur color and eyes, for the most part Khajiit have mixed qualities of a bunch of different cat species, TESO focuses more on Lions.

Just as long as they don't have that daft giraffe neck they had in Skyrim, I'll be happy.

Agreed, they looked like a breeze would snap their necks.

But ESO's female Khajiit can definitely look better. Didn't really notice it when I saw the video. But now that someone has pointed it out... I can't tell the difference.

I'm angrier about the Altmer. They just look like long eared humans, they have no distinct facial features like in the other games and their skin isn't at all golden.
