Alternative payment methods

Everyone knows that ESO will have subscription payment model - buy game for 60$ and pay 15$ every month. It makes about 200$ for year. That's much, don't you think? But this thread isn't for complaining and petitions for changing to B2P or F2P models. It's for alternative payments that are similar to Zenimax decission, but better.

Option 1: Buy hours, not months. There a big disadvantage of monthly payment. You pay for month. That means, if you play only 10 days, and don't play for 20 days, you pay these 15$ only for 10 days. Why don't make paying for hours? 50 cents for 3 hours. That's it! If someone plays everyday, he will pay 15$, but if he plays only 10 days, he won't waste these 10 bucks.

Option 2: Buy once, pay for expansions. Creators say, that subscribtion model grants us all expansions. But if someone doesn't want expansion? He still pays this 15$. So it's simple, add buyable expansions for 15$. If someone doesn't addon, he doesn't pay for this.

Option 3: Lower subscription fee. That's it! Lower price = more players. So Zenimax won't get less money. And game's price doesn't equal its quality. Morrowind with expansions on Steam costs 20, full Skyrim costs 40€.

What do you think?

Please, don't post stupid answers. "Don't like this game? Don't play it" is just lame. Would you be happy, if I posted this kind of post in other thread?

-Pity, there isn't open world PvP...

-Don't like this game, don't play it.

I don't think it'll work, unfortunately. They stated that this model of payment helps best achieve the goal for the game they want without making sacrifices. That didn't seem like BS to me either.

You see, what happens in a system where they give the consumer complete control of how much they pay like that, the consumer naturally has an inclination to pay as little as possible. This means less money for the company as a whole (no, typically additional sales do not make up for the lost revenue despite how many people like to say otherwise). And while I'm absolutely positive that the developers want more people playing their game, making this type of compromise results in two things:

1) Less money in the coffers which means less QA, and less content.

2) Pushing for money in other areas. I'm talking about intrusive advertising, micro-trans, etc.

And it seems Zeni still has some morals so doesn't want to push their brand new MMO into the cesspit that is P2W or even F2P with cosmetic micro-trans unless they have to.

This current model right now is the most exclusive, but is also the one the one that guarantees more long-term quality provided money keeps coming in. Sadly, it's a model MMO's seem less inclined the take, so bravo on Zeni sticking to their guns IMO.

I do feel bad for people who can't afford it, as I likely won't be able to for much as well anyways. Regardless, I think that it is the best thing for the game.
