Invisibility for a Mage

Post » Tue Oct 22, 2013 4:09 am

Hey guys, after doing some research I see that the nightblade is the only class that has been revealed-so far- to have invisibility. What do you guys think are the chances there will be some form of invis available for all classes? I'm only asking because in OB and SK my favorite class has been a SpellCloak wielding a 1H sword and using all forms of magic. So do u guys think this will be a viable build in ESO or should I think about going with the nightblade? Thanks for reading and sorry if this is a "noob" question!

1) Go into stealth

2) Become invisible

3) ???

4) Profit

But, for realz, just go into stealth and you are invisible.

As Drevis Neloren himself would've said it: Invisibility is tricky to master, but exceptionally useful.

Ha I figured someone would say that. That will probably be what I do if there is no "true" invis available to the sorcerer. But invis has always been one of my favorite spells in the series so I just had to ask!

You can be a Nightblade spellcaster. I know I will be. You have both the Destruction staff and Mage's guild tree, available so it should be possible!

Great! I'm also hoping that, as a NB, I'll be able to use conjure up some different creatures to aid me once I've been spotted. That would certainly make my day!

You can =) NB can have a shade spell and if you go with a Dunmer you have an additional Ancestral Gaurdian. Although with Sorc you can have a couple more, but invisibility should be a good enough escape mechanism IMO. Remember you'd be using invisibility mid fight, since you'd likely enter it with stealth up.

AFAIK for survivability in NB you want to push the Siphoning tree for it's health returns. It's got some very nice heals with Siphon and the DoT. And the Shadow tree, which has all that invisibility stuff and the shade which you want, has HP bonuses. I assume that healing in ESO is % based a little so the more health you have, the better healing becomes, etc...

Ah that sounds really awesome! I can't wait to see the shade and how good it is. And is it possible to have a staff in the off hand? That would be really awesome since a NB has no use for a shield and the staff will help me with my ranged attacks.

I honestly have no clue whether staves are 2H or 1H, unfortunately.

Precedent in MMO's would point to them being 2H, while precedent in TES games would have them be 1H, and I don't have access to the beta to be sure =[

Darn. Well, if they do end up being 2H hopefully we can switch between swords and staves relatively quickly.

Oh yeah that much I know we can. You know how weapon swaps work, right?

At a certain level, I forget which though, we unlock the ability to have two weapons "slotted" and a weapon swap instantly mid-battle is bound to a specific key/button.

Not only that, but each weapon has their own hotbar, which increases the amount of possible abilities we can use in battle from 6 to 12.

However weapons can only use their specific weapon abilities, so for example you'd probably want to tie you invisibility/shade/mage guild/etc spells to the sword, and keep Destruction staff spells on the staff and swap when needed.

That is very cool I think I do remember reading that somewhere. I really cannot wait to make this character and I'm also excited to see what kinds of skills the mages guild offers. The only thing left would be some sort of way to heal on-the-spot. ESO is sounding like it will be a very fun game!
