What is everyones problem with World of Warcraft?

Post » Mon Oct 28, 2013 4:22 pm

Around these boards, World of Warcraft is probably the most hated thing that anyone can talk about. Whenever WoW is mentioned, snide remarks, crude comments, and biased opinions are slung around like horse crap on Sunday. It just doesn't make any sense.

I'm a member of quite a few gaming and discussion forums, and I really must say, this board is the absolute worst and snarkiest when it comes to games that the general userbase has deemed "bad" or "stupid". It's really bad. Not the game, your alls attitudes.

I play World of Warcraft. Yes, I pay 15 dollars a month to play it. I have paid 40 dollars for every expansion that has come out. Yes, I do these things.

Do you have a problem with it? What's it to you? What business is that of yours what I do with my money? It doesn't impact you, it doesn't have anything to do with you. You judge people based on a hobby that you do not enjoy, and you make it seem like I'm less of a person because I enjoy a hobby that you deem stupid.

I just don't get the communities hatred and prejudice against something so stupid and pointless as a video game. The pride in this forum is palpable, and its' really disheartening for new people like myself who are met with hatred and absurdity whenever they mention they play a certain video game that you don't like. Like, holy crap. Grow up folks? I dunno. It's just blowing my mind lately how much blatant hostility there is on this forum for World of Warcraft. I've never felt such attitudes before on any other gaming forum.

Yes, I play WoW. I enjoy it, because it's fun. If you don't think it's fun, then..congratulations my friend. Not much else to say, is there? But trust me there is plenty to say from your spewing hatred coming from your fast typing fingers of prejudice. Clown status.

Sorry, I can't hear you over my doctorates in clownology.

I personally hold the opinion that WoW a symbol of unoriginality. A constant fetch quest/battle system that has shallow lore and relies on the players that seriously commit to roleplaying as whatever to win them over. I find Wow a shallow piece of trash that svckers people out of their money because people like to helplessly grind for no reason than to do it. My question is why you take it so personally. WoW is a svcker trap, I've seen very little mockery of WoW players here, just the game and its business model. Stop getting so worked up just because people don't like what you do, otherwise you'll be in for a rough time in the real world. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a kid's birthday party to attend to.

Basically what Martyr said. A shallow overpriced grind fest.

If you want to throw your cash at it, go for it, I'm not stopping you nor is anyone else.

The problem with your statements is that any assertion that you can enjoy what you want also extends to everyone else, and if they choose not to enjoy WoW, surely they can voice their displeasure as much? You're essentially complaining that people don't agree with you.

Because of the monthly fee. Expect TESO to be hated just as much when it's released.

TESO might be hated due to monthly fees but I don't see TESO having all the other extremely bad problems that WoW has. I'll definably gonna at least play TESO for a month just to see if Zenimax stayed true to their word.

Personally, I have no hate toward monthly fees and I'll pay them as long they are reasonable enough.

Runescape might (or at least should) get more hate in my opinion. Then again, there's that nostalgia factor that might be more prominent than that of WoW's.. Anyway.

Idunno, not a lot of people enjoy the thought of it in ways that have already been mentioned. They can choose not to play it just as freely as you can choose to do so. I don't see the problem.

Runescape isn't nearly as popular. Anything popular, be it Minecraft, Skyrim, or WoW, will get a reputation.

If it's so pointless, then why are you so upset that people have a different opinion than you?

Well, regardless of popularity, if you look at it from a money-grubbing angle compared to what you actually get with your gaming experience, it's a bit worse off. Not to say that Blizzard isn't money-grubbing.. won't even touch that, but some of the new implementations over the last couple of years with Jagex have been ridiculous, though merely from a spectator's point of view. You'd think an infinitely unpopular game by comparison would be nicer to the group they have managed to keep with them, but alas. I haven't touched that game in years but I still think about it and check up from time to time due to it's addictive quality and my nostalgic tendencies. Ahh, 2001..

Blizzard has been worse, IMO, with Cataclysm and pandas.

I use to play RuneScape for awhile from 2006 to around 2012... I quit because of all the crap Jagex was trying to throw at the game in order to make money...

Now-a-days, I only care for RuneScape lore and pay well attention to the world's history. (It was extremely interesting and I did got quest cape for a reason) but will never play the game just because of what Jagex did... My only respect for Jagex is that some of their members are Bronies and have trolled haters on their forums in 'a nice way', which still makes me laugh by thinking about it.

~Edit~

That and I like the artist fans of RuneScape on deviantart.

Well yeah, but what exactly do you get with paying 15 bucks a month on runescape? Wasted time with very few redeemable opportunities at entertainment for your buck. Even the social aspect is just utterly broken.

Yeah, exactly. Though I don't necessarily know that you're referring to in particular, I can share the sentiment. Minus the brony part. Can't say I'm one of ye fellows.

It shouldn't be hard for you to understand, since you seem to have a hatred and prejudice against those who doesn't like World of Warcraft. You're not exactly working hard here to act like the better and more mature side, lots of name-calling and impolite comments in your post.

I agree.

Technically, having a dislike/hate (which ever you prefer using as they both mean the same to me) for something is common for everybody. I have a hatred for a lot of different things but I don't care if others likes said things. It is, afterall, opinions and we all have them.

My answer to all WoW threads like these are: I was told that I did myself a favor by never playing WoW.

I don't even know what the gameplay looks like. Therefore I have no problem with WoW, but it gets irritating that every player is being branded as a WoW player because of how that fanbase supposedly acts.

There's better things in life to e overly attatched too than WoW. I'm guessing it's kind of like the Justin Bieber thing a few years ago where any general insult towards a game gets aimed towards WoW because it's bound to get a few laughs.

I haven't played Runescape in a long, long time but hasn't it always been F2P? Unless you buy the exclusive member thing.
