How would you feel being the last (wo)man on Earth?

Post » Mon Oct 28, 2013 7:33 am

So, rewatching I Am Legend got me to thinking about the topic. If you were the last uninfected, living or whatever else man or woman on the planet, what would you do?

Me personally, I think I would just hide in the lap of luxury and try to live 'normally', watch reruns of tv shows or news and other such things. Who knows. Anyway, how would you feel in a situation essentially making you the only person left that you know of alive?

Ooh, first to vote

I went with option 3, what's the point of being the last human alive?

If I were alive in a world free from monsters that wanted to kill me? I actually wouldn't mind it. :D I could see myself running around doing all kinds of stuff, exploring buildings, collecting a huge stockpile of supplies, etc. Though I would probably go crazy after two-three weeks with absolutely no human contact. With my overly creative mind, I could easily imagine myself making up people good and bad, just so I can have something of a normal life.

If it were a world riddled with monsters that wanted to kill me? I would want to end it. I do not want to spend the remainder of my life constantly on the run from monsters.

Ahh, so basically a "whats your zombie plan" thread? gotta love these threads :)

1) grab a Large Truck and fill it with all the supplies I can get from a Local Canadian Tire Store...

2) then, I take it all to my Cottage I own and begin fortifying it (as things stand now, the place would be easy target for the infected).. I'd Build a Fence Around it, Build a Supply shed out by the fire pit, etc...

3) Drive Around taking Gasoline from all the Gas Stations i can in Jerry Cans and throw it into my Storage Shed I had built in the previous Step (this way If I do need Electricity, I can pour the stuff into a Generator)..

4) Stock up on Meds from Pharmacy's.. Anti-Biotics, Ibuprofen, etc...

5) Go stock up on Fishing Supplies, and Good Compound Bow, and any firearms and Ammunition I can Muster..

6) Raid Book Stores and Comic Shops.. I mean, might as well have something to read as I doubt the Internet will last long (limited power and people to provide Maintenance)

7) grab a few Dogs to help defend myself in the Woods, and for company :)

8) Live out in my now Fortified Cottage in the woods... getting food Via Fishing and Bow Hunting.. if "Infected" Approach I jump up the tower I built (as part of the Fortification) and begin firing until they attack ceases...

9) Record the events in a Series of Hand-written Novels, in case their are survivors somewhere else I don't know of..

And Most Importantly

10) Grab a Volley Ball, paint a face on it, and name it Wilson (waits to see if anyone gets the reference..)

i think you wouldn't last long.. considering you would have no one running Power Generation Stations, you would have extremely limited Electrcity to run things, and watching reruns would be difficult if no one is running the TV Stations (unless you are watching recordings... but even then you have the limited power issue..)

There's no reason for me to do anything when there aren't anyone else around me to observe them or to acknowledge my existence. It's all very dull and depressing.

True. Realistically speaking, once all the major electricity source goes out, you're pretty much thrown back into the Middle Ages where you now have to scrounge around for food, drinkable water and use whatever generator you can find to run your basic electricity.

Oh, and you'll have to really hit the medical books because if you get sick or injured, you are your own doctor, and that may have to include performing surgery on yourself.

I would try to get caught up with my reading, but accidentally break my glasses in a terribly ironic twist of fate.

Same thing I do every day: talk to myself and listen to music.

It'd be great until I run out of food.

depending on caused apocalypse I would try and get to one of those cloning labs and attempt to clone and bring back the human race. This would probably fail (I'm no doctor, all that [censored] about the brain being uncloneable etc.) so I'd then just go hide in the lap of luxury, probably in Vegas or somewhere near a Dam (for the water & electricity) until i die and get eaten by one of the pets I keep for company...

Suicide. Not because of loneliness, but because I'd find it very hard to live in luxury without the people to maintain things like power plants, the internet, farms, and stores.

Suicide. But then again, if all it takes is isolation, I would've killed myself a long time ago.

Oh well. I still have Wilson.

Even when I'm around RL people I'm usually off with my invisible friends (or not so friends). I'll probably just keep up the chit chat with them. Dance around a bit, weep a little, eat some ice cream (assuming it didn't melt in the hellfire), and then bleed out probably once It's confirmed I'm all that's left. Not a bad plan I don't think

And we'll drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and... ...that's where the song goes wrong, no one left to fight, so just listen to loads of music and drink 'til you die. Jeez, plenty o' people doing that when there's someone left to talk to. It's not like I'm weird or anything. Last song before we get extinct - Lorelei by the Cocteau Twins. it's me alarm in the morning.

Mines a combination of choice 2 & 3. I'd take things in strides for awhile then when things get boring and lonely I'd take my .357 magnum and put humanity on the extinction list forever.

I'd chronicle my journeys... Survive off the land, travel around... Writing in journals, and leave them some place for whomever to find. Never suicide.
