I think the best way to approach this is the honest dad approach. Just tell her it can be scary at night, but it's also scary in the day too. You might be able to SEE likely threats in the day, but bad things happen, the important issue is to learn how to avoid getting trapped in scary situations.
Just factor in white collar crime and you can probably bring down that percentage quite a bit
