No Cross Platform Play Between PS4 And PC + No Cross Faction

Post » Sat Nov 02, 2013 7:37 am

The one thing that really really bothers me about ESO is the fact that there is no cross platform play between PC and PS4. The only reason I believe they are doing this is because Microsoft is too damn stubborn to allow cross platform play so Bethesda isn't going to allow either console to able to play cross platform. This will definitely be one of ESO weak points in terms trying to play with friends and family. I enjoy playing on my console, specifically Playstation, while my friends are more of the PC type. It would be fine if there was cross platform.

Now onto the issue of the factions. I know of many people that play MMOs, and online games in general, to play with friends. I understand why Bethesda decided to go with three different factions, but this makes it more difficult to play with friends. Two would have been enough. I understand it's great for PVP to have three factions. Here's a possible solution that I believe could work better:

  1. Keep the three factions.
  2. Allow the player to create a character of whatever races they wish.
  3. Now the player can choose which faction to join.
  4. Making it much easier to play with friends.

What does everyone else think?

Anyone else think cross platform is possible maybe in the future?

Welcome to the forums! My third fishy stick dispensed today. I'm on a roll here...

Also not for the first time today, you might want to at least do a basic search before posting. These topics, as with most others, have been done to death.

I agree with you on the cross-platform thing though, that's one limitation too far, whatever the practicalities. Also agree that Micro$oft has issues with playing nice.

"The 5000 nords of Redguard trudged through the blistering heat to Daggerfall, where they settled down to their new home. With the migration of Nords to Daggerfall, Daggerfall is now populated by a majority of the nords, the Daggerfall Covenant will now be changed to the Nordiful Covenant."

/sarcasm

It's a design choice. They put their AvA design choice, the war, and the plot over being able to flexibly choose your own alliance. It would degrade the AvA experience to not have a clear cut enemy, and have people from every race working for every alliance. It's perfectly logical to have exceptions to this, and have different races working for different alliances in special cases, but such a thing can't stay true if you're in a MMO setting. ZOS decided they didn't want this mixup, even if they sacrificed some of the ability to play with each other.

I'm very attached to being a dark elf, it's not at all going to be hard for me should I choose to go the the Daggerfall Covenant because of the benefits of having a faction locked system. It might not be something valued as much by someone who isn't interested in PvP, but this is a very big PvP oriented game, and should be treated like one.

I also can't see this changing in the way you want it. There might eventually be a way to desert your faction at a certain level, but you will never be able to have complete freedom at level one. Each alliance gives a nice balance between races. EP has an elf, a humanoid, and a beast race. Daggerfall has two humanoid and one half beasthalf elf race (depends on your perspective I guess - look like a beast race, but are elves). AD two elves, one beast race. I think there's enough races per faction to make the restriction work, and getting worked up over something that isn't going to change will only make your experience worse if you can't accept the game for what it is.

Three factions in PvP is amazing. So much better than two.

I'm torn on cross-platform play. On one hand, more people can be more betterer, but on the other hand I still don't want to put up with any [censored] politics from the console war in my PC version. Honestly as far as I'm concerned the consoles made that bed and we all have to lie in it now.
