So I've seen this come up a couple of times in this forum and I thought it'd be interesting to see people's take on the thing.

It is DEFINITELY canon. Saying this is not canon is like saying redguard is not canon and unlike Redguard it actually has the TES label as a major part of it and uses the same style and gameplay (for those wondering, I THINK redguard was sort of like a third person adventure game), Bethesda has NEVER mentioned it not being canon and there IS mention of something big happening at the time the game takes place.
