True To The Lore, The Bosmer Of Valenwood {cannibalism&

Post » Sun Nov 17, 2013 7:55 pm

One of the main things that is going to make or break this game for me is how true the game stays to the lore, one of mine and numerous others concern is that of the bosmer. the bosmer, tree sap people or wood elfs, are religiously cannibals do to the green pact. most notable, and one of the three main rules of the green pact, is that a bomer must consume the corpse of a fallen enemy within three days. if you wish to dwell further into the lore, do so, i must get to the point. cannibalism and weather or not it will be implemented into the game. :deal:

some of you may draw the line here, maybe you already did, but you cannot change the fact that many players would very much like to see this aspect of the game. the content that is cannibalism may vary in opinions - some want it suggested, others would like it shown. i myself wouldn't mind seeing a bosmer feast upon its fallen enemy. should i say family, because most bosmer plan feasts after battles where the entire family helps eat the fallen corpse. families getting together, lovely. just lovely.

Perhaps there could be a mission quest where you are invited to a bosmeri feast and unknowingly ate ''strange meat''. no doubt it would be called strange meat, frankly i wouldn't have it any other way. maybe you are the bosmerian who has done the killing, you could get an option to feast upon the corpse or not to. after three in-game days without eating it, your bosmer begins to suffer withdrawals and negative effects that only increase as time goes and wont go away until the ''strange meat'' is ate. maybe if an NPC saw such an act the guards would be called.

It's not that it cant tie into the game, no that is not the problem at all. the real problem here is that damn 'T' rating every MMO developer from solitude to whiterun strive for. because if there game has a 'T' rating it will sell more and have a broader fan base. secondary problems are as follows, gore, content, suggestive themes and uncomfortable stomach queasiness. but none of that is really an argument as to why it shouldn't be in the game. who knows, maybe it is in the game and i am as ignorant as a sheep. nonetheless, it should be in the game and that within itself is more than a reason. one thing i am hoping for is that the game is being developed to be the best it can be and not being developed within the restraint of that 't' rating most of us hate so much. most is an accurate word, awhile back i staged a poll regarding that of the opinions on this particular subject, it is long gone now for i violated certain rules. i was punished rightfully so and that was the end of it. yes, there are multiple TESO forums, not just here. [for the new users]. again i really hope the game stays as close to the lore as possible. hopefully the dev's read this topic, for i am tired of posting about it elsewhere. lol elsewhere. as in elsweyr.

p.s. [off topic] the window of game idea suggesting is decreasing the closer we get to launch, so if you have unique and original ideas, now is the time to post on the forums.

Well... let's put it the other way round...

Most likely you won't even be able to hunt and eat rabbits.

Like in most Theme Park MMOs you won't be forced to eat at all.

And as in most RPG you won't see many NPCs eating.

Now tell me, why should canibalism be implementet while so many other things are not?

As for lore:

Before Skyrim the lore had it that the use of "shouting" was rather common for any Nord in Skyrim. (e.g. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Children_of_the_Sky )

Skyrim changed the lore so that only the player, some monks, a self-proclaimed king and some ancient dragons and undeads where able to shout.

Nobody cared for that either...

i think all nords can use shouts - er . . . with time. a lifetime of training to learn how to shout. if your a dragon born, dovahkiin, you can learn far more rapidly. but i could be wrong, i request the presence of a lore master. for i am just a lore acolyte.

I doubt cannibalism will be in the game, but just because somethings in the lore doesn't mean it needs to make it to a MMO game. With a MMO lore should be nothing more than a guide line, there will be more players who dont care about it than do.

The way I see it is that the players are a different thing to the common people of thei race.

You, a player Bosmer are a soldier in the new army. You'll be killing 10's, if not 100's of enemies in battle within days. No one can consume that much.

So that's why you are excused of not doing this ritual.
And this goes for all kinds of other "oddities" the players do or don't do.

It was already said theres about 50% of new lore. I dont personally undestand why it needs to be true to the lore.. more interesting lore if asked from me. People needs to realize ES IP must move forward, they cant start forever at one spot. Yeah, at least they didnt make whole new ES game, theres new and old.
