Conjuration Tank

Post » Thu Nov 21, 2013 4:09 am

My main style in all TES games is to wield a twohanded sword, heavy armor, and summon my own backup.

Conjuration is easily my favorite skill.

Will I be able to play a tank styled role, while still utilizing Conjuration?

I'm fine with not being the biggest beefiest tank out there, but I can't stand being a DPS role.

Pick a Sorcerer (who has a skill line called Daedric Summoning) and put on heavy armor and equip a Two-handed sword.

My brother and I usually roll tank and healer. After looking at the skills the other night we are pretty sure we are going to be:

Argonian Sorcerer specializing in Daedric Summoning/Heavy Armor/ Twohanded Swords

Dunmer Templar specializing in the healing skills(I forgot the name)/Light Armor/ Leaning towards dual wield, but sword and board is possible too.

EDIT: I came on here to ask if it would be viable in group settings as the main tank. I know so very little about the mechanics and stuff at this point.

Well, weapon and shield is a bit more viable for tanking than two-handed sword (since there are actual taunt abilities on 1h&shield), but tanking in ESO is a bit different from what people have said, and as the quakecon video showed- the 'tank' isn't expected to hold all the mobs and take all the damage.

*wry smile*

If it were me, I might go with both characters rolling Deadric summoning, and then both have a restoration staff as back up. No idea how the staff vs. Templay skills will fare,

But it would be super cool to see, oh look there's two dudes over there... oh look there is a regenerating army of like 4 summons and 2 dudes. You could even put summon and resto skills on the same bar so it wouldn't get in the way of the tanking combat :P

A conjurer tank actually sounds like really good fun, the mixtures of spells and melter will be very interesting to see

The Conjuration skill line has some nice self melee buffs as well like added protection and little pets that help in a fight or can heal you and your party.

Daedric Summoning is pretty much built for tanking...the other two trees help a little, either with AoE DMG or health restoration so you may want to look into those.
