Same problem. I figured something like this might happen as this beta seems pretty large-scale. It's easily the largest beta they've done so I expect there to be quite a lot of turbulence at least at first.

Yep, got this as well. Although I DID try connecting right when the clock hit 6pm EST so maybe giving it a few more mins might do the trick. I was just so excited xD.
