Simply put, should we as a society be allowed free will (over the most important aspects of our lives), or should the government dictate what we are allowed to do with our lives? There are many stupid people out there that make bad decisions that affect more than just them. Not just criminals that purposefully harm others, but also people who just do irresponsible things that are overall bad for everyone else around them in the long run. What I mean by this is, should the government determine what registered citizens do with their lives for the betterment of the economy, such as job, residence etc? I'm not talking about simple things like what they do with their free time or what things they buy, but things that would normally be determined by the citizen based on their personal bias, rather than logic. Like using their skills where they're needed instead of where their desired, and living where it would be most efficient and beneficial for the population, instead of where the citizen wants to live. And money for the housing wouldn't be a concern, the government would pay for it.
It's a "for the greater good" thing, we wouldn't enjoy it, but it could improve things in the long run. And when you think about it, it wouldn't be that terrible, you're free to do what you want outside of those things, much like it is now. Work hours wouldn't be any more strict than they are now, and if all goes as planned, your living conditions wouldn't be so bad either. And the government would only own your housing "technically".
Basically, the government would rig the economy and population to work how they want it to.
For the record, I'm not supporting this idea, I just made it up to see what others think about it. For the sake of discussion
