So today I was chased by an elephant seal...

Post » Sat Nov 23, 2013 8:44 pm

So today when I went for a walk along along the bay, I encountered a massive elephant seal sitting in my path.

So not being the usual thing to encounter while on a stroll, I wasn't exactly sure what to do. It didn't seem to be aggressive, so I figured I would just walk around it (it was a only a thin path).

Before I knew it the thing reared up and bellowed really loudly at me and came straight at me!

Luckily elephant seals aren't the fastest on land so I was able to out run it.

Anyway, I thought it was pretty interesting.

From an outsider perspective, Mainland Aussies calling Tasmanians inbred is a bit of a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

I was chased by a swan once. It was scary as all hell. I wouldn't know if id laugh or be scared if I was being chased by a clumsy lumbering seal.

he just wanted a hug.

When i was a kid i had tought some dogs really bad behavior by getting them to chase me and i would run away. It was fun when i wanted to play, but they wanted to play all the time and eventually they'd just knock me down and not let me up when i'd get home from school. They didn't bite me or any thing, they'd just bowl me over.

I'd be a little of both, considering I don't want to be known as the guy who got bitten by an elephant seal.

So was I. Wicked and insanely cocky little monsters. They have no reasonable terms for existence. Not even for Russian Ballet.

I don't see the horror in being chased by a swan. Yes they can have a nasty bite and have claws on their feet, but if it is just one of them you can easily swat it away or grab its neck if it keeps pecking at you. It is not animal cruelty if you have to defend yourself from an unprovoked swan attack.

If I was being chased by an Elephant seal (to those who don't know what one looks like, here's what it looks like---> http://www.biography.com/imported/images/Biography/Images/Profiles/D/Jimmy-Durante-9282022-1-402.jpg

oh wait a minute wrong photo....here's the real Elephant Seal pitcure---> http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BuKJE88qZUo/TWRo0Af0OPI/AAAAAAAAA_A/6YweKU_D4NM/s1600/IMG_2245+male+elephant+seal+profile.jpg .

Anyway if I was being chased by an Elephant seal I'd probably be laughing my ass off but be weary of it cause they can mess you if you get TO cocky ^_^.

It was actually pretty scary for a moment, I mean it was taller than me when it reared up, and growled REALLY loud.

It was saying "Stay away from my harem unless you want some of this ha cha-cha-cha-cha!" I always thought of Jimmy Durante when ever I see something about Elephant Seals or any animal with long noses  . But yeah it was just warning you to stay away.
