Music lower quality than previous Elder Scrolls games.

I was fortunate enough to play the Elder Scrolls online at First Look, and saw/listen to all the official gameplay videos by Zenimax.

And the first thing I notice was that the in-game music was very different in style and atmosphere than the previous Elder Scrolls games composed by Jeremy Soule.

Which is ok, other people can have different interpretations of the Tamriel world and it's atmosphere.

But the music in the Elder Scrolls Online is not memorable and lack the feeling of exploration, which TES III: Morrowind and TES V: Skyrim have.

The technical aspect of the score of The Elder Scrolls Online is that the music itself sounds very synthesized in contrary to the music of TES V: Skyrim which sounds like it was played with a live orchestra and it feels it has more life in it. (although this can be changed due the BETA stage of the game at this moment)

I personally hear no Jeremy Soule influences in the music for The Elder Scrolls Online, which is for me a negative point. The quality of the music in terms of melody, harmony and able to be memorable is not present in the music of The Elder Scrolls Online.

Because Tamriel is pretty huge, therefore there will be a lot of music. I personally feel Zenimax went more for a quantity approach than quality. I will be not surprised if Zenimax hired more then one composer to write the score.

Paul Sage has indeed confirmed (a while ago) that Jeremy Soule will be "involved" into the project. But honestly; I do not hear any of that in the music.

What do you think? Do you prefer quantity over quality? Do you want Jeremy Soule to write the music, or not? Tell your thoughts about what the music for The Elder Scrolls Online should be like for you.

Well, I have not played the beta, but reading your words... I feel sad...Music in TES games are a huge part of them.

I'm pretty sure the music in ESO is composed by Jeremy Soule, read that somewhere, think it was mentioned on the Shoddycast and Elder Scrolls Off the Record too.
