Resizing gif issue.

Post » Thu Nov 28, 2013 2:19 am

As you can see I found a gif that I want but making it smaller to fit the 100 kb thing made the quality crap is there a way to resize it with out making it all pixelated like this?

You could cut some frames out (which will make it faster though) and reduce the amount of colors you've got in it.

Really the 100KB limit is pretty low so you're going to have to make a lot of sacrifices if you want long or complex avatars.

Nope. GIF is horrendous at rescaling because it only has a color palette made up of 256 colors so the smaller it gets, the worse it looks.

You'll need an image editor to crop the individual frames to reduce the size, but not the quality.

Er, no. The only reason it looks "good" is because you're using an image that's black and white, and has a standard pattern.

This won't work for the OP's image. It wouldn't surprise me if he used the same technique to get the image he has now.

I have done this: http://gifs.gifbin.com/052009/1243329491_animated-andy-gilmore-art.gif

to this: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/11/pt7l.gif/

OK, it looks not so good as the original, but not that worse as the OP (no offense please !!!!!)

How do you resize gifs? I was about to make a topic asking this but I figured I may as well ask here. Can you shrink the image or do you need to cut it. If so, how?

Use GIMP to shrink the image. You can do it with other tools too, but the tool needs to be both animated-gif AND layer-aware to work. Otherwise it'll just become a static gif.

That's not the image the OP is using...
