What if faction alliances were dynamic and changed via polit

So I can find holes in all of the alliances where they don't make sense from a lore perspective.

But, ignoring how one might tie rapidly changing allegiances into the main TES story.. what if?

What if during the development of an expansion, not only does new stuff happen and get added, but political drama cause old allegiances to sunder, and new fragile alliances to form?

The main power blocks could be reshuffled, and/or cause civil wars in some of the factions like what happened in skyrim.

This could add a new sub-faction loyalty. So I am first a Khajiit, but I fight for one of the 3 major power blocks. But if those powerblocks split up and reform, I am still a Khajiit, but my racial allies might have changed.

Just an idea.

I like it, though it would be far too complex for the current AvA set-up methinks. Because PvP is such a massive part of the game, it would upset that balance. People who had been playing with one alliance and finally maybe becoming loyal to it via Stockholm Syndrome would then be thrust into another. Like the Orcs defect to the Aldmeri, Khajiit to the Ebonheart and Nords to Daggerfall.

It would all have to happen at once and that would just seem far too cut and dry and ham-fisted for such a nuanced political event. Then again, the entire war is entirely ham-fisted and artificial-feeling so it might work after all.

Horrible idea IMO. So to be able to have a set guild or even just a group everyone would have to be the same race? If not your guild would be torn apart every expansion?

It would destroy the community and game in the end. So yeah horrid idea.

That would be completely awesome that my best friends I have been playing with for a year suddenly switched teams and we can no longer play together! Brilliant!!!

I do like it, if this was a single player game I would fully support it however for an MMO I think this wouldn't work well at all, all the quests/stories would need to be altered to Suit the new alliances. And new players who are part way through an alliance quest, or someone who is max level but only partially completed a few of the quest lines? It would mess this up totally.

Devs make the lore, players in ESO make the politics.

so this thread is a bit silly.
