say the devs were to remake the game make very minor changes to how the menus look had the graphics run in a new engine but the key game mechanics running in the background on the original engine ??

would Bethesda even consider this ?

I'd rather let them continue working on their current project.

If they made a 'Morrowind HD' with the original music and voice acting, and made it available for consoles, I would be very pleased indeed.

Or you could just play modded Morrowind. It looks beautiful.

Well imo those arent very strong points for them to make a HD morrowind. Installing mods are easy, its hardly like creating mods.

Way I see it, if an old game still runs and works the way it is supposed to then they don't need to remake it and should focus their budgets on new projects instead. You can always return to the old game and play it if you feel to. The only problem comes when an old game is so damn old that it just isn't working on newer systems or even on emulators or when an old game has bad design choices and bugs that really hinder your enjoyment, at that point it's also a good idea to make and HD version or something where you basically patch it up to work the way it was intended to and perhaps prettify it a bit.

Though 'remaking' an older game which still works is just a waste of money IMO, we already got the old game; Focus your budget on something new.

That said, I doubt Bethesda would consider it. If anything the games prior to Morrowind need an HD makeover more-so than Morrowind does.

you can play morrowind on the 360 but can't acces the dashboard or any online feature while your playing. I save morrowind for days that my connection goes out.

I find that extremely doubtful - many mechanics (including just about the entire combat system) used in Morrowind aren't too popular with modern gamers and if they changed them, then they risk alienating people who would want a graphically enhanced original.

But having a PC is most likely the only chance to have a graphically enhanced MW - so if you want it, buy a PC.

They are not going to remake an old game. For the price of a next gen console you can get a PC that will run modded Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Learning. How to install mods takes a bit of work but is not that hard even for people with little experience. But you do have to be able to read readmes and follow instructions. There is also MGSO 3.0, which will graphically update the game, no modding experience required. Just download the zip file, unzip to the Morrowind directory and launch the installation program. There are a few bugs in MGSO that can be easily fixed, but even unpatched, MGSO is very playable.

Given that a modded Morrowind can already provide an HD experience, it seems unlikely Beth is going to release a remake just for consoles, especially since consoles seem geared to more action oriented games like Skyrim than Morrowind's more cerebral experience.

I feel your pain though. I played for years on console before making the switch to PC earlier this year just so I could mod Oblivion and Morrowind.

I prefer playing games on console.

I didn't know this. I might even pick up a second hand one so I can play it :D
