Races and Factions

Quite simple: What do you think of the whole races being locked to factions thing?

Personaly, I can see why they did it, but even if I supported it, (which I do not - there can be defectors and stuff you know) I feel it imbalanced. And here's why from what i have seen around the place:

Ebonheart Pact:

Nords: Way popular after Skyrim

Dummer: Always been popular

Argonains: Who doesn't love the beast races?

Daggerfell Covanent:

Redguards: Meh

Bretons: Meh

Orcs: Again, Who doesn't love the Beast races?

Aldmeri Dominion:

High elves: Pretty much despised after Skyrim and The Thalmor gave them a bad name

Wood elves: Meh

Kajhit: Say it with me now, who dosen't love at least one of the beast races?

Imperials: Apparently Molag Bal owns the soul of the entire race now or something so they are out. :stare:

Since when did Mer qualify as Beast Races?

I understand why they did it the way they did it, but I'd prefer to have the freedom to make a Dunmer aligned with the Aldmeri Dominion or the Daggerfall Covenant. The alliances don't really make much sense to begin with, outside of the Aldmeri Dominion's, since it's kind of a carbon copy of Skyrim's in terms of territory.

I kind of love how there's been next to no outcry about the removal of imperials. It worked well: evening out the numbers of all three factions and removing any balance-disrupting money racials. Because honestly, who wants to play boring humans when there are magical half elves, northern barbarians, and desert duelists out there, not to even mention all of the mer and beast races.

Since forever? Orcs are like tomatoes. Technically they're mer, but socially they're also considered beast people.

(Tomatoes: Technically they're a fruit. But they're also a culinary vegetable. In both cases, it's not an either/or, since one is a "scientific" definition and one is more of a made-up definition.)

As for the poll, I can see why they did this and I think it works. Not the direction I would have gone, and it does have its challenges, but I think it works.

I do! But only on one of my alts. And Nords are close enough that I can just make a short swarthy Nord and call her Colovian.

Redguards meh? Really? Oh boy OP you are missing a huge part here, I'm sure you are only looking at aesthetics.

I'm going by what I see on the forums not Lore or interestingness. Fact is I see few Redguards here.

Fair enough. Says enough about most people here I suppose. Redguards are one of the most badass races out there imo, And as for your topic. I say YaY. I wouldn't want to see factions all mixed up with thousands of nords going for AD.
