Building WorkstationDesk

Hey, guys --

I have a need for a new desk and to save money and get something that would fit what I want, I'd like to do it myself. It doesn't need to be a standing desk, because I figure I'll build something like http://iamnotaprogrammer.com/Ikea-Standing-desk-for-22-dollars.html to put if I want to stand.

Sadly, I don't have an IKEA close by or I would simply buy a tabletop from there and be satisfied. However, the shipping for those to where I'm at is too expensive to even consider it. As an alternative, I'm really interested in just buying a tabletop of sorts, likely plywood, and hanging it on the wall similar to a shelf.

That thought sounded really good to me at first, but I didn't see any brackets on IKEA that looked like would hold up a 24 inch deep tabletop. I saw some longer metal brackets on amazon and the like, but was getting out of what I knew about so I figured that someone here could enlighten me on things to look out for and potentially how to go about accomplishing this goal.

So, if I were to hang a desk/tabletop on a wall, what do I need to look out for and how could I accomplish it without worry of it falling? Would decent angle-brackets in studs be enough to hold it up if they were long enough? What if they were anchored with decent drywall anchors instead of studs?
