CombatGame Overhauls, a Body Mod and Other Content

Post » Thu Dec 12, 2013 11:03 pm

So I've recently decided I want to play Skyrim AGAIN. However I went through my mod list and found many of them were out of date; so I updated them. However I get the uneasy feeling that all of these updates and changes will likely play havoc with my old character so I'm going to do an uninstall+fresh start just to be safe. But there are a few things:

1 - I'm getting the feeling that I want something different for combat. Currently I use(d) ACE, Duel - Deadly Combat hardcoe, Deadly Dragons, Balanced Magic and Skyrim Unleashed. But I think maybe a change is in order.

2 - SHOCK. HORROR. While the body mod I use (CBBE) is still on the Nexus I can't find the armor replacer I used to use anymore. And since CBBE hasn't been updated in a long time I thought maybe its time for a change. But I don't know much about the new body mods that have come out since then. So I'd like a new body mod + armors to go with it.

3 - I'm looking for other interesting mods that might have come out/things I missed before.Any suggestions?

For reference, here are some of the mods I already use that might be suggested/interfere with other suggestions but that I don't want to give up if I don't have to:

Alternative Start

Deadly Dragons

Duel - Deadly Combat hardcoe

Falskaar

Moonpath

WATER

Frostfall

Winter is Coming

Imp's More Complex Needs

Heavy Armory

Immersive Armors

Project Reality

Skyrim Immersive Creatures

UFO

SMIM

Interesting NPCs

I do own Hearthfire, Dawnguard and Dragonborn as well.

(And yes, I do know how to use BASH and BOSS)

2. Well, the Calientes Vanilla Outfits for CBBE is still there.

3. You do already use Unofficial Patches and SkyUI too?

Like I said, CBBE is old. Real old. Heck, some of the best body mods for Oblivion didn't come out for quite some time. (Speaking of which anyone ever going to make DMRA for Skyrim?)

3: I do use the SkyUI. As for the first part, the implication confuses me; you seem to be implying that it is possible to have played without the patches. I thought that using the Unofficial patches while playing an ES game on PC was a legal requirement.

You didn't mention Unofficial Patches or SkyUI in the first post so naturally I wanted to be sure.

OK, i feel like I might evangelize too much, but Duke Patrick's Archery and Heavy Weapons combat is IMO the ultimate hybrid combat mod. It requires thinking during combat and some player skill, but also factors in your character's skill. It also makes AI in fighting much better than any mod I've tried (and I've done playthroughs with nearly all of them.) There are occasionally jaw dropping moments of awe with this mod. A group of soldiers might try to surround you (which will result in a quick death). A high-level enemy may charge into you and knock you to the ground. And actually, even low-level wolves might do that. It has configurable locational damage (i.e. hits to head, body, arms, and legs all have different damage multipliers). And the feature list goes on and on.

There's a http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1475458-duke-patricks-archery-and-heavy-weapons-combat/ on the forum, and the first post has links to download.

Balanced Magic used to be my favorite magic mod, but it has a few bugs and hasn't received a lot of attention for the last year or so. I think http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11139/? is a great alternative. It changes gameplay a bit and rebalances magic, without making it OP. I always use http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16225/? for extra spells. It has a lot of good spells, and a few that are so-so or a little unbalanced. It seems to be compatible with everything.

I think http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12977/? spices up the game, and makes it feel like a background war is going on, in addition to adding various types of wanderers to the roads of Skyrim. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15501/? works with any of the above mods, to add even more wanderers.

For bodies, I like Dimonized UNP + Navetsea's textures (search for "CBBE skin texture V2 V3 plus Thepal and UNP compatible"). Navetsea's texture mod has an optional esp that gives different NPCs variant textures, which is a nice plus. Also, the SeveNBase body has recently gotten popular, and there's a fair amount of armor and texture support for it.
