Anyone mind sharing their recommendations? I'm not looking for any one particular genre.

Hmm. Well, Kotaku recently did a "http://kotaku.com/the-12-best-games-on-the-3ds-5878903" article, for whatever that's worth.

I just picked one up too. Really enjoyed Fire Emblem: Awakening. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is good, and so is Shin Megami Tensei IV.

I also plan on grabbing Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Pokemon X&Y, and Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. Though you should play the first Zero Escape beforehand.

Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds is the best game released this year and is better then ALttP. Get this if anything because it is the best 3DS game made to date.

Other recommendations: Rune Factory 4, Tales of the Abyss (remake), Pokemon X or Pokemon Y, Mario Kart 7

Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is amazing. Though the story might be a little confusing if you haven't played any of the other games.

  • Fire Emblem: Awakening
  • Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies (download from eShop only)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

And games I will soon buy.
  • Bravely Default

Id get Pokemon X or Y. They're really fun. Another option would be Star Fox 3DS, because it and Pokemon could work as a change of pace for each other, when ne was causing burn out. Its nearly identical to the n64 Star Fox, but looks a lot nicer. It also has a special 3DS mode... while you can go full 3D in both normal and 3DS modes, the 3DS mode lets you use Gyro controls.

Do not attempt to use both gyro controls and 3D display at the same time, unless you like motion sickness.

Well, just about every game I've got has already been montioned, but I'll throw in Shin Megami Tensei Devil Suvivor: Overclocked, and Etrian Odyssey IV. The latter though is an old school RPG, great fun but really old school, you actually have to draw your own maps of dungeons. And I'm looking at getting Bravely Default, despite the daft name.
