Good Hair Days

Post » Sat Dec 14, 2013 8:56 am

I have the kind of hair that is naturally unkempt. The top of my head and my bangs tend to have this weird wavy thing going on that tends to look quite ridiculous, especially with the curls at the ends of the bangs, and the back of my hair is a curly mess. Don't even get me started on those silly looking "wings" that stick out around my ears. I typically despise my hair and its obnoxious behaviour, and my adorable attempts at using hair gel just makes things worse.

But today, my hair, for once, actually looked pretty good. The top was quite flat, but not greasy flat. The waves in my bangs were toned down quite a bit and actually looked fairly straight. The "wings" were also shrunken considerably, and the curly back was neatly tucked behind my head. Today I had a good hair day.

I'm making this thread to talk about past experiences with hair, and the jubilation of good hair days. Really, my week has been fairly depressing, and having a good hair day helped to add some optimism to the bleak week. Little things like good hair days are always the best at adding a bit of joy to the stress of daily life, I find. Anyone else understand the struggle of having messy hair, and know that awesome feeling when your hair actually cooperates for once?

P.S. I'm going to see if showering in the morning and then standing in the cold five minutes later gives me a good hair day again. This could be the key to true happiness. :P

If I don't try my hair with a blow drier, it looks like I have a perm. But, only about 1 day out of the week will it look decent, and that's if I never touch it, ever, during the day.

With curly hair, sometimes it is best to let it dry naturally, although you can get most of the water out with a towel. And, short or long is best. Short tames the curls and uruly parts, long the hair tends to hang down more. However, a good hair stylist could come up with something that will work for you.

I use clippers with no guard when I cut my hair, but it's messy as hell if I let it grow out

I used to grow my hair out in high school, since I thought it looked good and teenagers actually do that, but now I just keep it short. It's easier to maintain and it looks good every day since I don't have to do anything to it.

This could be the key to pneumonia, which will make good or bad hair days not matter much.

I try dryimg my hair with a towel, then I try combing it to how I want the hair to look when it's completely dry. Maybe that's why it always looks so terrible. :/

I can't have the hairstyle I'm most comfortable with without everyone asking about my mental health because I look "emo". I like long bangs that hide my eyes, and short-ish hair that is not too long as to have unkempt curls, but is not too short as to make me feel like I'm missing something whenever I run a hand through my hair. :P

I don't think there is such a thing as a hairstyle that will work for me when other people are taken into consideration. Oh well. I'll just keep standing in the cold to see if that makes me look somewhat decent. Seriously, it might work.

I haven't had a good hair day since about 1988.

My hair is largely straight (I'm Asian) and while it's categorized as fine, it used to be very dense (lot of hairs per inch). It used to to just lay there and was so "flat" that even a permanent that I tried once when I was 13 didn't hold/stay for more than a month or two. Since my late 30's it seems to get a little more wavy (kinks oddly in certain places at certain lengths), making it curl up at the ends in annoying ways that drive me mad, causing me to cut it shorter and shorter. Plus it's getting a little thinner. No I'm not going bald, it's just not as super-dense as it used to be. Outside of that one childhood permanent, I haven't/don't style my hair, so it's not product damage. Just age I guess.

Anyway ... it's not that it looks terrible and I don't spend much time with it. Still...sometimes I want to shave it all off and just go bald. I imagine it's much easier. No muss no fuss. But while my husband likes short hair, even he might object to that. :D

I have really badly-behaved hair, so I use hairspray to try to cement it in place. Sometimes it even works. For a while, at least.

I was having quite a good day on the day I had my passport photo taken. It's just a shame that in the minutes beforehand there were several strong gusts of wind while I was outside that really messed it up, so it ended up being business as usual.

Good hair days were when I had enough to worry about. Those days are long past. I've graduated to the never-seen-without-a-cap phase.

I still have most of my hair and teeth.

Good hair days? Bad hair days?

I wear a pony tail and a hat...sooo....I dunno...every day seems the same with regards to hair.

Unruly beard is another matter. Wait ! That's hair isn't it ?!

I have always had the military cut hair so I don't worry about hair at all until it needs to be shaved.
