Firefox 26 no longer allows the Java plugin to run for security reasons. Please note that this is different than JavaScript, which your browser will still run (unless you disable it in the settings).

You should be running the latest version of Java, since outdated, insecure versions of Java are blocked in Firefox. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-enable-java-if-its-been-blocked

If you see Java™ Platform SE 7 U45 in the Firefox Add-ons Plugins list, then you have the most recent version installed.

Beside that try this:

  1. In the Location Bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
  3. In the list of preferences, find javascript.enabled.
  4. Right-click on this preference and click Reset to change the value back to "true" (the default).

EpicFail, most likely you don't need Java, and you definitely don't need Java in your browser. You'd be better off uninstalling it.

I'm having the same problem. I think I'm gonna take your advice and get rid of it.

Runescape I guess. I think I had that same bug (something to do with loading iirc, been almost 4 years)

*edit and reads whole thread*

Yep. Good to see Jagex didn't fix this ancient bug since I stopped playing.

Not related to the original problem EpicFail had but does anyone else get hangs and crashes after updating to FF 26?

I only have 5 addons enabled. Two of which are AdBlockPlus and NoScript. I don't even have many plugins either. Nvidias library for 3d vision and photo gallery, Intel Identity protection stuff, and Flash 11.9r900.

In FF26, there is a known freeze with exiting a fullscreen flash object (like YouTube) with the escape key.
