How will you play TESO?

Post » Fri Dec 20, 2013 2:08 am

Hi,

So without trying to solicite information that would break anyone's NDA, how are you going to play TESO and judging from the demos that the DEVELOPERS have shown us, and things you can find on youtube, fan sites, and the main teso site, what do you think the game's forté will be?

I am looking at TESO as an explorer's paradise, much like GW2 was supposed to be. GW2 still has a heavy exploration element to it, but it's been watered down a bit. I see TESO as the prime game for exploration if it holds true to past elder scrolls games. And not just exploration for sights and all, but to find materials and resources.

I think that this will be a solo friendly game to do this. Since I left WoW, I have been trying to get into a game where it is solo friendly, yet populated with a lot of people doing their own thing. I've been searching for an exploration game, a game with verticle progression but with a heavy horizontal progression element. A game where I can get lost and immersed in the world, find a dungeon or cave and just get lost in it. Hoping TESO fills that void.

Your thoughts?

I think ESO will be big on exploration, as this is one of their emphasis for the game, as well as pvp, I'm a massive pvper so I'm sold on that, for PvE we havn't heard much yet, so I'm awaiting that.

If you can be rewarded heavily for exploration, Im all for it. I kind of hope that this game takes a different approach to PVE rather than traditional styles in the form of 5 man dungeons or 20 man raiding. I simply don't think that TESO will function in the way that many traditional MMO players are used to with regard to group and raid content. I hope its a different breed of MMO...somehow.

Yes you do get rewarded in a sense, they have sky shards located everywhere which reward you with skill points, and also books all over which you can turn in to the Mages Guild, and read them yourself for all the juicy lore :)
I think they are trying to take a newish approach to PvE end game, so far we know they have master dungeons and advanture zones (AZs are for 12 man groups, other than that we don't know much else yet, but in the coming weeks I'm expecting some more info on these).

If it wants to be true to the TES series, there better be much exploration :-)
That's also how I want to play it, exploring and being very immersed.

Exploration, building my characters RP story in small groups of companions.

Eventually I will be drawn into the war, but might look for alternative ways of helping the Covenant.

Roleplay and PvP

I plan on forming a small group (guild) of mercenaries centered on a disgraced Breton noble family.

It will become obvious, if it isn't already based on my profile picture, why they are disgraced, to those encountering the family in game.
