First Books

Same here. Although I actually loved the stories. Still do in fact. It is pretty dark at times for a teen series, especially in the final books.

Other than that, my favorite series of all time is the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon, Eldest, Brisngr, Inheritance)

I'll do this again, but shorter:

I loved the Motorcycle Ralph books; Jerry Spinelli stuff (Maniac McGee), and Paul Jennings (Australian author - just wrote bat [censored] crazy stories).

Dinosaur books in the early 1970s when I was liftle. I could name every major dinosaur! :D

When I was about 10 or so in the late 70s I started reading a series of Star Trek novels. I forget the authors name. He was famous for writing a lot of novels based on Star Trek before 1980.

Edit:.Practicing my Googlefu, I tracked the novels down. The author was Alan Dean Foster.

I spent a crazy amount of time in the school library while the other kids would run out and play with balls during the breaks or whatever. Great place. The first school librarian I had was a very helpful and lovely lady which certainly helped too.

One of my very first books was Little Virgil by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ole_Lund_Kirkegaard which I got when I was 7 and I still enjoy it very much.

I remember reading some of those when I was younger as well. Sure wish I still had some of them, I liked them, but being a Star Trek junkie and all...

I used to read books about ghosts, which would make me scared for days yet for some reason I still read them. I also had a book about tanks which I loved and some book about mysterious disappearances (mostly to do with the Bermuda Triangle) which I found fascinating, but looking back it was mostly [censored]. The first fiction books I read were Andy McNab's Boy Soldier series which I loved. Of course I also had Guinness World Records books. I barely read books at all anymore though which is a shame.
