Choose a weapon type to be implemented:

If you could choose the addition of a weapon type, what would you choose?

I admit that I've missed spears since Morrowind. I always imagined my sneaky thief using it as a way to pole vault around.

I admit that I would like to see a small thrown weapon added. How would you like the mechanics for such items to work?

All of the above, but if I had to prioritize, then...

1. Spears / Polearms: Reach weapons that specialize in pushing/pulling enemies into place.
2. Unarmed: Low damage but doubles as resource denial, draining stamina and magicka on hit.
3. Crossbows: Adds more options to the archery skill set.
4. Flails: Haven't thought about how they work, but they'd be cool.
5. Martial Staves: I don't personally care about martial staves, but the more options, the better.

Basic attacks should be mid ranged, say 12 meters, and do more damage the closer the target is but at a minimum distance of 2 meters.

Skills could be something like a high precision throw and a poisoned projectile.
There could be a skill for close combat, that stuns or snares.

All attacks should be stronger when used from stealth. (for the true ninja feeling)

Blocking should be weaker than with any other weapon.

i wish there was a way to have these polls but instead of voting on 1 thing you could list all the choices in order of importance to you. now that would be cool

anyway i hate crossbows so thats out. huge bow fan but i just dont like crossbows. i would be fine with any of the other choices but i guess fist weapons would be my first choice

did they say it meaning forever or at launch? i assume they want this game to last a long time and have many xpacs and to do that they will need to expand on the game. now most games go with the basic new class new race for expansions but i dont think this game will go that route. i can only image the rage from TES fans if they added a new race to each faction. i personally would be fine with new races but i dont see it happening

No. They said the game doesn't have spears at launch.

For me its close to a tie between Martial Staves and Unarmed. I voted for martial staves because I think it would be pretty great to see them done well for the first time in a TES game though.

Honestly though, if they're being honest about the frequency and size of the content updates, I'd like to see:

--Staves

--Unarmed/Fist

--Unarmored

--Spears and Polearms

--Crossbows

--Thrown Weapons

--Flails

All in the first year. :)

in the first year is asking a bit much. well unless you lump these weapons in with already established skill lines. i personally want new weapons that come with their own skill lines

The thing about staff weapons is they are cool on paper, but most of the time when they get implimented in a game, they come with one or, if you're lucky, two animations. "Poke" and "swing-like-a-really-long-club". That tends to take a lot of the "cool" factor out of them. If there's more to the animations than that, I'd love to have them. Otherwise, they're just kind of ok and I'll be inclined to use something else.

Also, what's this about unnarmed not already being in there? That's just not right.

They've said DLC sized content patches every 4-6 weeks.

At the very lowest end, that's about 8 updates a year (should be more, but I'm being as generous as possible with the maths.)

I gave 7 new skill lines I'd like to see. Totally doable.

I don't want to get into a payment discussion, but I do think that given their model, they'll need to put out content like that to keep people subbed.

I'm hoping that it will be good enough that they won't have to, but it's nice to get fresh content faster than once every two to three years. As for a new weapon skill line in the first year, that is entirely doable. It's just a question of priority.

i am not familiar with an mmo that has had so many updates is all i am saying. i mean i guess it depends what they consider DLC. a new skill line requires balance so asking for 7 of them in year 1 when they will still be getting the original skills balanced seems like a major feat. i also dont think people should really expect major content updates every month, if they are expecting that they will be disappointed
