Your favorite game that you found by chance?

Are there any games (that you like a lot) which you found by chance? To start, 2 of mine would be dishonored and metro 2033. I was just logging onto steam for some games of dota, when i accidentally clicked on the trailer for dishonored (i wasnt interested in the name because i thought that it appeared to be a cliche game with a cliche name, 'dishonored' hah.) For the trailer, what captivated me the most was the song they used though. The music probably accounted for 85% of my initial interest for the game. So i was sold :)

I first heard about metro 2033 through a youtube video. There's this guy Criken who posts funny montages of his games and throws in hilarious dialogue. His metro 2033 video was entitled 'Criken's quest for Cabbage', for anyone interested. Although it was a good laugh, at that time (was a few years back) i felt that the game....probably wouldnt be fun. Plus what kind of a name was 'metro 2033'? :P It was only recently till i saw the sequel to the game on steam, and went 'Woah, that game birthed a sequel huh.' And soon after there was yet another youtube video that i watched on the sequel, this guy called TotalBiscuit who has reviews of games. He was lauding it for its immersion and graphics, and it finally convinced me to have a go at the game.

Right now, Metro's probably my favorite game of all time :D are there any games which you also found by chance?

Morrowind... which I guess you can see where that little stumble landed me. (And it's remained my all time favorite game until this day.)

Well, not so much favourite (but definitely favourite franchise) would be when I first bought the PS3. We were looking for games, and I only picked out Assassin's Creed but my mum was like, 'hey, this looks good' and was pointing to Oblivion. It was GOTY, which she mistaken it for being ... game of the year, not just with the DLCs on it. After that, I went hunting for Morrowind, Daggerfall and so forth, and came here.

And I found Fallout through a Youtube video of it playing the Imperial Guard song :P

Oblivion, I guess. Somehow the RPG genre had managed to completely pass me by all those years, until I read a passing comment about it by the author of http://hlcomic.com/ at the same time I was looking for something new to play.

My purchases are usually very deliberate and planned, but stumbling across Spiderweb Games (Avernum, Geneforge etc.) was definitely a happy accident.

Hmm, I can't think of many games I've played that hadn't been planned purchases. Only one maybe, Dragon's Dogma, which I knew almost nothing about at the time. It was one of those rare "Go to the store and buy a random game you don't know anything about" moments for me.

Ehhhhh, I don't think there was a game I bought impulsively. Well, I SUPPOSE you could say Red Dead Redemption, but I bought it off of PSN because I'd heard a lot of people loved it so I figured it couldn't be bad when the worst I'd heard was 'It's not on PC'.
