Are pc Players going to pay for the development of Consolles

Post » Mon Jan 20, 2014 11:41 am

The question mark didn't made into the title , bu A friend said that the game will cost the access price to get the game, and then a fee of 12 Euros per month , but that Xbox players won't pay the fee but only the initial game , so only the pc players will be paying for all development costs all time?

I do not find it right .

I think what might have your friend confused is the hubbub about console players potentially having to pay twice for it. Paying for the Xbox Live sub and the sub for the game. To my knowledge, yes they still have to pay the game subscription. The console online gaming service is a seperate entity and will have to be payed for as well.

price of the game and the subfee is required on all platforms, but consols might also have to pay for an subscription for xbox live/playstation plus in order to play, unless zenimax makes an agreement with them

If they made a joke about this for April 1st this entire forum would simultaneously flip a table.

The consoles have to pay for the game. The consoles will have to pay the subscription.

The consoles also have the yearly fee from their platform owner, Sony or Microsoft, to access their online services, PSN+ or Gold or whatever they're called. I don't play on console, so I'm hazy on the names.

There were people attempting to get Sony and Microsoft to waive that access fee for ESO. I don't see how they'd manage it however, since people who play online are probably going to be playing more than just ESO, and the fee is for the online services.

No, it wouldn't, not for the mods and probably not for the devs either. Remember that satire piece the got taken seriously and went completely out of hand? The one about how much ESO cost to make?

After I told to my friend the almoust unanimous confirmation affirmed in that thread that consolle players will have to pay the same a fee for online game he said that he is not going to pay three times for playing it .

1 buy the game

2 pay microsoft for online services

3 pay the game again for online play .

The game should be Free like World of tanks and eventually pay the fee .

So he says .

So the game shoudl be downloaded free and eventually pay the service.

Well, sub based MMO are like that -- pay for a box, then pay the sub. In case of WoW, one is paying for a "box" (aka expansions) if one started with the free stater kit. After level 20, one have to pay the sub fee to play more. WoW is 10 years old, so they can gave away the 1st few levels. WoW has a player based already. In case of ESO, they are "new kid on the block," thus have to pay for the box since they do not any expansions yet. Before you ask, the updates will be BIG (New questlines, skill sets and more). and we do not know how ZOS will hand expansions. Someone have to pay for their work for those. ESO does not have a steady player based yet, thus the box fee.

World of tanks didn't have either Iguess, but started on less big scale .

Anyway Most people won't pay for both a fee and a box , either one of the two .

So according to this image this is how the price of a videogame is shared :

http://www.jacehallshow.com/wp-content/uploads/Video-Game-sales-distribution.jpg

So we have :

Microsoft / Sony 20%

Publisher 30%

Marketing 15%

Retailer 20%

Developer 15%

Microsoft Online + Annual fee

Video game annual fee + 14 $

I honestly do not get why Microsoft shoudl charge double times over a videogame , wich explains why consolle games cost more than pc ones anyway .

but apart that The Developers shoudl make pay only Either the Subscription or Only the game and the relative expansion or rething about their payment options and provide a freeto play system with extra paid content eventually .

Is he going to play any other online games? At all? If he does, he's going to have to pay the "gold" fee, or whatever its called.

If the only game he was going to play online was ESO, then he's probably right that he'd be paying for something he wasn't going to use much.

Personally, I see the subscription as a service; like paying for my internet every month. They are going to be adding content on a schedule and maintaining the game/servers/fixing problems/whatever. I'm paying for that, and as long as what they are doing is keeping me happy, I have no problems paying for it. If they don't, or there are major problems they don't fix, I'll unsubscribe.

The people who don't want to pay for the game and the service do have the option of not playing. No one is being forced to pay for or buy anything.

And this has now gone to a payment system thread.

Those aren't allowed at the moment. Until we get more official information, we don't know enough to have a discussion about it. They did announce a basic price, and they announced there would be discounts, but we have no idea how that would work.
