Any Obsidian Devs at Bethesda?

Post » Tue Aug 04, 2015 12:38 am

Games are a subjective form of art. My own view is that New Vegas is a vastly superior game to Fallout 3, with much more intricate systems and such, http://i.imgur.com/olUvIVr.jpg

I do believe that Obsidian can make a better Fallout game, but I also believe Bethesda to be better game devs in general, and New Vegas was only possible because it built on the pro's and con's of FO3.

So have Bethesda pulled in any Obsidian devs for FO4? Or is strictly a Bethesda team with no Obsidian devs?

Given my opinion I would love for some of the designers of NV to have been included in FO4. What do you guys think?

Unless they've taken any Obsidian devs on as actual employees, then I'd say no. Obsidian is after all, it's own studio with it's own projects and games to work on.

I understand this, but didn't they contract their other partner studios for some work? Like iD for the shooting mechanics? I really hope some of the Obsidian brainpower has gone into this game, or at least Beth has learned from NV.

That comparison was interesting, but to me exploration, freedom and unmarked quests are more important than the MQ story as I never follow that in any game I don′t have to anyway :P

Exploration and Freedom is the reason I love New Vegas so much more, I miss the dusty sand on my boots, brb off to shoot some cazadore's.

could be, but at this point we just don't know...only ID has been actually named..and from what we've seen so far , yes think they took some notes on the faction system

How much do we actually know about the Factions? What's confirmed? Railroad, MiT and Brotherhood?

Difference is that Zenimax Media own ID, so if they did work with anyone from that studio it's easy because they are part of the same structure. Obsidian isn't part of the Zenimax umbrella, so they don't have that kind of pull with Obsidian.

Bungie and ID Devs. were consulted for getting a better FPS mechanic in F4 but they aren't a part of Bethesda's Dev. team in anyway, outside of ID being under Zenimax. Same with Obsidian, none of them left Obsidian to join Bethesda, Bethesda just outsourced NV to them. Hopefully, they will do it again for the next Fallout.

I'm not a fan of Obsidian's games. I'd be perfectly happy if Bethesda worked on Fallout 4 alone.

This makes sense, for some reason I was under the impression that Zenimax had bought Obsidian. Doh..

I agree most of the points, but due to unknown reason, I found exploration in F3 is much more attactive and fun.
