The only scenario where it would be cool to be an android...

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:03 pm

I for one would hate the idea of the player being an android; it makes no sense (stimpacks, breathing under water etc.), its not creative, and its downright overdone and cliche.

However, the one scenario that it would be cool is if, at some point in the game, The Institute captures you and replaces you with a synth. You would have to escape and hunt down your replacement, but it would be cool if you had the (evil) option of playing the synth to instead hunt down the main character and kill him.

If our character is indeed the android I have lost all faith in Bethesda... It would be like battlestar Galactica exactly.

The PC has a kid, wife, as you mentioned heals with stims, ect.

The idea of chasing down an exact copy of ourself or an imposter synth would be awesome! I think you are on to something there.

I'd rather there not be a Punished Venom Phantom Sole Survivor no matter the circumstances, thank you.

Terminator Salvation's plot was very similar to this.

I think it could be interesting so long as you're given the choice to become one like becoming a vampire or werewolf in Skyrim. The same thing goes for becoming a ghoul. Each should have it's own perks and drawbacks.

Hmm what if you are not an android but your wife and kid are? And your whole existence pre-war is a lie?

I disagree. I know a different scenario where it would be cool to be an android. If your friend is showing of their new iPhone, you can pull off your face to reveal your robot skeleton and say, "actually, I'm more of an android kind of guy".

Better yet; what if everyone in the entire world is a synth and you are the only human left? Or even better the whole fallout universe is all just a dream and I am really a synth? Oh noes!

Sorry I wasn't being insulting was just messing around. I didn't mean it in a sarcastic way. It It is late here... But seriously who is to say we aren't little ants in an anthill or tiny specs in an experiment in real life? The possibilities are endless.

The wife and son could be androids... Or maybe just a fabrication by the institute implanted in the PC... Some twist will have to be in somewhere!

We're dealing with a cliche here no matter what. If we're not a synth we'll be the grizzled survivor who has lost not only their spouse and child but also ~dramatic pause, possible with over the shoulder stare~ their whole world. If we're not that it'd probably be the wo/man on a mission to find their spouse and/or child, Liam Neeson approved. I'd almost rather be a synthetic, frankly.

The Bioforge route.

At one point, you're captured by the Institue and escape (preferably early on, though that may not be the case with the new trailer). Subsequent choices made during the Main Quest determine if what escaped was the real you ir a synthetic.

And the choices aren't either-or, nor are obvious. At the end, you're determined to be a synth or real based on which one has the highest points, with default/tie going to human.

Healing after beeing deadly injured with some consumables and keep fighting till you are nearly dead again just throw in some more consumables sounds to me like it would match better to a android than a human.

And even breathing under water could be easier explained on a android than on a human beeing

I like the idea of the game 'splitting' at a point where you can play good (the human you) or bad (the android you). Too bad Bethesda isn't nearly that clever. Though it would be similar to the Skyrim DLC Dawnguard where you can continue play as a Vamp or Human, though either way the ending is the same...

If this turned out to be the case :brokencomputer:

Seriously it'd make the whole Institute painted as bad guys even worse.
