at first i wanted to say no, and this would be to encourage pc gaming more than console. however, consoles are now moving in the direction to allow remote play from consoles to pc/mac users.
so why not?
Old school cheat codes...can't remember the last game that used them like that.
Anyone remember ABACABB?
Lol
All these creeping improvements and consoles will still be inferior to PC
I voted yes but I don't think that it will ever happen. console makers are already too paranoid about people hacking their boxes (which is silly) so losing control over any aspect of a game on their box is a no no. I mean, Microsoft will literally ban you for life without appeal from the live service if you do something on your xbox that they don't like, so I could see people using console commands and accidentally doing something they aren't supposed\getting banned. It's not worth the risk.
The game will hit the bargain bin soon enough on Steam so I'm just waiting for that to really get into the nuts and bolts of the experience.
If one remembers correctly, Two Worlds II on Xbox 360/PS3 had access to console commands. It was limited and had safeguards in place, but it worked and is proof enough that it can work on consoles if implemented correctly.
I have plugged in a keyboard and pressed the tilde (~) key already and it does nothing. The only functionality that the keyboard currently has is for entering names, some menu selection and nothing more.
As for waiting for the price to go down on Steam, that is not an issue for me. The issue is that my laptop cannot run the game even on low, apparently, since it does not meet the minimum system requirements. And I am a VERY long way away from being able to afford building a gaming rig that can run this game decently as my income is not all that great and this won't be changing for the forseeable future.
I would rather not have to buy the same gaem twice and would rather have access to the console commands with safeguards in place in regards to the console limitations as well as perhaps disabling trophies/achievements if you use them for the current play session. It should also come with a warning and legal disclaimer, of course. But that should not be a concern with the appropriate safeguards in place and absence of console commands that are not feasible on the console or will cause problems.
You might have to convince Microsoft and Sony. If the companies do not want game input on keyboards to be in a game, the developers won't put it in. So far it seems they are fine with players using keyboards for chat/email type stuff, but not for game control/use.
People have been trying for a while, apparently. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2951380/software-games/microsofts-working-on-keyboard-and-mouse-support-for-the-xbox-one.html

Latest information I saw, but it still doesn't really say anything about using a keyboard, just a mouse.
most certainly, I know with Skyrim you could unlock every achievement with just one line of input
