Would be cool if we could manage settlements with a terminal

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 5:29 am

So my settlements are generall happy the problem I have is that I don't always know if I have unassigned settlers or unassigned resources. I noticed that a few settlements have a terminal and it would be cool if I could use that terminal to manage my settlements (allow assignment of jobs, indicate if that settler doesn't have a job etc etc). It could be a craftable terminal for settlements that don't have one and, of course, the manual method we have now would still be possible.

Also, I like how some settlers are renamed based on their job (i.e. provisioner) I would love to see that expanded for all settlers (i.e. assigned to farming becomes a farmer, assigned to shop, becomes a shopkeeper, scavenging station => scavenger etc etc)

As soon as you mentioned about not knowing if you have assigned or unassigned settlers, I completely felt sold to your suggestion :)

cool idea!

I have seen posts about having a bulletin board for assigning, but as you can craft computer terminals, that would be a great reason to make them :)

ya know the sad part is that should have already been in the game in the first place. The settlers AI needs looking at aswell. kinda creepy finding all of them just standing there like statues. It's like they are downloading instructions for the task at hand.

The worst that happened for me was at the starlight drive inn settlement. The would all hang out right smack dab in that radioactive puddle. The thing is, it turns out they do that because they don't have anything else to do. I cordoned off the puddle and added benches and some shops, decorated the place a bit. The problem is gone. Mostly because they have better places to sit and pass the time.

You know you can scrap the radioactive barrels from that pond, right...? No more radiation.
But yeah I fast travelled there at night time and they were all just standing around... about 30sec later half of them walked to the bunker I've made as their dwelling, to go to bed, but the rest just stayed there. It's annoying too that you can assign them to a shop and the next time you return the shop is unassigned again.

^^This. I love that seconds after scrapping the radioactive waste, a water purifier was put in place and we all drink to our desire from it. No worries at all, mate. :nope: :foodndrink:

I could have swore I tried that and it didn't make a difference. I'll check it out again.
