where is Save game folder on PC? I want to backup my progress.

and If I apply a patch, would this override my progress? played some on original release.

What patch? Steam should have applied previous patches.

A patch will not override your progress.

Future patches may not be save game compatible, but they will never override saves.

Not necessarily. For example: I prevent Steam from auto-updating games unless I actually want it to.

Just keep Steam off-line, or restrict Steam from doing it's automated downloads by setting it to a time window when the PC is typically off.
