How Early is Too Early?

To attempt to take on the Supermutants at the Weston Water Treatment Plant for Troubled Waters?

I'm playing a new DiD character and I'm spooked at taking on the Muties. The Prime playthrough I just happened to find Graygarden quite late and the water plant was a cakewalk. Now I really don't want to die my only death by Mutant Hound or Suicider by going too soon.

What do you think? I'm level 13 now, and considering giving it a shot with the T-45.

I was able to defeat Super Mutants easily enough of that level, alot depends on perks and equipment though. Things'll go easier if you have 2 levels in the Rifleman perk (or whatever perk helps with the weapons you're using) and have upgraded your weapons. Actually, with the T-45, the Super Mutants will have a hard time dealing with your armor since, at your level, I don't think they spawn with any heavy weapons yet and Suiciders can be dealt with by shooting their arm that's carrying the mini-nuke if your weapon can't kill them the normal way quickly enough. Only reason I'd still be worried is if I was still using an un-upgraded Pipe rifle.

I was able to go to Trinity Tower and rescue Strong at level 10 on my melee character. It was quite the battle, but I accomplished it.

if you are lucky then either the gunners or the BOS are attacking the same plant. try to snipe from a distance.

I did it at about level 22 in this play through. I stumbled by there at like level 7 on my first play through and got my ass completely handed to me. The same thing happened with Saugus Ironworks and the Revere Satellite Station.

I survived well enough, though I probably wouldn't have without the armor. I sniped four of them from across the water near Oberlon, including the suicider, so that helped a lot.

Thanks

Congrats. I had much more problems with the legendary mirelurks in the facility than with the supermutants and died a lot at lvl 20 or so. However I did not use power armor. You must be a better player than me. :)

The skull symbols should warn you, if you might need to level up a bit.

I guess they're levelling with the player to a large degree. So, if you move in early, you probably will encounter less skull guys or legendaries.

To a degree yes, for instance in my first playthrough the BOS is now mainly made up of Paladins and Commanders, most of the wildlife is glowing etc.

Worst part about the entire encounter was that I received my first Legendary of this playthrough - a Chameleon chest piece, which is absolutely perfect for this character build. Problem is that it's stinking Raider armor. Blech! I still haven't decided if I can stomach its appearance (and added weight) to actually use it or not.

Good work. I remember my first 15 or so levels on my first character.... I had to us PA for that one, as well...

I liked the idea of needing some heavy duty armor sometimes, and a limited amount of F.C. Felt like a pretty great implementation of P.A. to me. Later levels different of course.

I think if I were going to play a DiD game, it would definitely have to be a P.A. character.

What exactly is a preferred level for tackling the Revere Satellite Station? I'm asking since I wish to know how long to wait before doing "The Lost Patrol". I'm level 12 on my new character, currently.

On that note, what's the suggested level for Monsignor Plaza? Another quest given to me early on involves that location, and I'm second-guessing myself.

On my current play through I waited until about level 30 or so to go there, but I'm sure I could have sooner. My main reason for avoiding it was trying to avoid power armor spawn points until I was at a higher level. I'm not sure what level you 'should' be to go there.
