Automatron Robot Shopkeepers

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2016 3:50 pm

With the new Automatron dlc I decided to create a robot town but when I assigned a robot to be shopkeeper I noticed he didn't have a barter function so I couldn't use the shop. I was wondering if this was done on purpose? (Like how you can't make any of the base game followers into shopkeepers) or perhaps a bug?

I doubt it's a bug, I imagine they just wanted humanoid settlers to run the shops. Robots can do everything else, though, so you should have plenty of people to man your stores.

Can they tend crops? If so, my Greygarden settlement is going to have a very metallic population surge.

They certainly can, plus they make good guards. Come to think of it, I haven't tried assigning them to a scavenging station... anyone know if that works?

Can they be provisioners as well?

You can assign them to artillery, too.

Yep. I've already replaced all my provisioners with supply droids.

I am still too poor on my new character to create a settlement full of robots, do you know if their presence affects happiness at all?

Lol, I haven't even attempted to assign them as provisioners! I'm gonna have some upset former provisioners...

Now the humans can focus on running shops! Or being creative!

Is there art or poetry? I know the Atom Cats had poetry readings.

It would be neat if you could assign settlers to shifts at stores so everyone technically has a job.

Still though, what about the people who don't dig poetry and art, what about the person who just wants to farm vegetable starch ingredients, and end the day with dirty finger nails, and working at a shop would kill his soul.

Then I need to promote some settlers to become therapists.

So like more medical stores? like the simple clinic could be the therapist, and the 2nd tier a regular physician, and then the 3rd tier would be the surgery center/hospital.

Are our robots protected during settlement attacks? I had one of my cavaliers die in an attack on super mutants, but I'm not sure that wasn't just friendly fire. I guess I need to build tougher guard bots.

I'd just give Jezebel a clipboard and make her the therapist.

Or maybe one could program a new Booth that increases Happiness in a settlement. Maybe make it look like Lucy's psychiatry booth from "Peanuts". And a couch.

I would be happy to do the voicework for a male therapist.

"What seems to be getting you down?"

"You are what you decide to be."

"Tell me about your mother."

"How does that make you feel?"

"Everybody hurts, sometime."

I like to do this with a ghoul settler, a house, and put couches that look like a little lie down therapy futon. I role play that the ghoul settler is a prewar ghoul who was one of the worlds best psychiatrist/psychologist.

What they need to do is let you assign settlers as custodians so they can clean up the pre-existing debris that you can't scrap in build mode!
