Went shopping at Target today and decided to pick up the Fallout 4 Season Pass as I passed by the electronic section. As I was at the checkout the register kept receiving errors that it was not available till 12/31. The worker then had me go to guest services to help resolve the situation but they could not solve it either. They then had me go some more Season Passes to test out on their register but none were working. Guest services then had me head to where I found the cards and they removed the tag and the stack of cards on the rack and took it back to the register to test but none worked. The worker was around my age and told me, "I'm sorry but I am going to have to crush your dreams and say I cannot sell these to you, I'm being told they are not available till 12/31." I was laughing, but pretty bummed out that I was not able to purchase a Season Pass. He told me he was going to have to discard them all (which hurt a little inside as he said that). He gave me a couple of them since they were not working on the registers or anything and discarded the rest. I was pretty sad seeing that happen and now I have a couple cards I have no idea to do with.

I'm a Target employee. Sounds like there was some sort of system screw-up with the street date coding on the Season Passes. The fact that he gave you a couple and was going to throw the rest away is . . . odd, to say the least. That's really not how it should've gone down.

Have you tried to see if the card works if you put the information into XBL/PSN/Steam?

This, even if they weren't working they normally wouldn't throw away hundreds of dollars in digitalized merchandise.

The cards were for xbox, I ended up scratching one right now and tried to redeem it on Ameriward but it said it was not activated and to return to retailer. The target registers were saying they all weren't available till 12/31 so I am not sure what to do now, I told them it was released last year but they did not know what to do. I even scanned a card on the price checker there and it came up for $29.99 but said it was not available in the store or online. I was shocked too because they had stacks of them and had the price out where all the xbox cards were too.

Sounds like a case for Nick Valentine. Or the Silver Shroud! (much funnier if you imagined I said that in the Silver Shroud voice).

well the season pass is $50 now not $30 so it's likely a old one that never got replaced.

Protip for Bethesda: copy and paste the Skyrim city guard voices for Grognak and save money!

Thats what I was thinking as well, but why would they get rid of all that money? It didn't say it was expired, it said it wasn't available till 12/31. I feel like all it would need is to be activated no matter the price it was its still dlc. Actually, this is starting to make much more sense. We do throw away gift cards if they're "expired" or no longer valid in some way. If the old $30 Season Passes had to be replaced by the more expensive ones, this may indeed be the case. Gift cards aren't actually worth anything until they're activated. Target doesn't purchase them for retail sale like they do with regular merchandise; a gift card is purchased, activated, then the original manufacturer is reimbursed. If the old Season Passes were no longer valid, then they could just be thrown away. The only part I don't get is why the old ones had to be replaced by new ones, unless it states the price directly on the card or packaging somewhere.

Oh I understand what you are saying. Makes sense, but I'm wondering just as you are now.. Are the prices attached to the codes? New different codes for the $49.99? Or is it just printed new cards with $49.99 label, I'm still curious because it never said it was expired and needed to be activated, I've seen a post where bestbuy would still have the $29.99 cards out, but their computers were updated with $49.99 and people were still able to purchase the cards with $29.99 label and get then for $29.99..

Actually Grognak's Axe and costume is in the Sole Survivor's inventory. Not sure what would be more fun, the Sole Survivor speaking as the Silver Shroud or as Grognak.
