Cliff Racer and Hulking Fabricant Companions

Post » Wed Jun 29, 2016 5:37 pm

Just finished my first two mods; been working on them for a bit and really learned a lot about the CS. :D

I originally made these for myself, as I was sick of having certain companions get murdered as soon as they walked into a room... But I thought to share, as I'm hoping that others may enjoy them, too.

? Features:

  • Can be toggled to follow the player, wander the area, or stay put

  • Auto-warp to keep up with the player

  • Can switch between using both Magick and Melee attacks, or just Melee

  • Can be told to wait outdoors

  • Can toggle auto-warping during combat

  • "Command Ring" will warp them back to you

  • Unlimited Health, Magicka, and Fatigue

  • Has Companion Share with lots of space

  • Constant Waterbreathing ability

  • Will use Levitate with the player (Fabricant)

  • Will use Water Walking with the player (Fabricant)

? Basic Rundown:

These followers are pretty much the same build at this point, save for what creatures they are (and the fact that one flies while the other is landbound.) I will probably add some exclusives later on, but I want to make sure these are stable first. They can use both Magick and standard physical attacks; they will prefer to use Magick by default, as it's ranged, but will also use melee. You can set them to only use melee, if you prefer, by using the "- Combat..." dialogue option and choosing the appropriate setting.

You do not need to worry about them dying or becoming useless with spells, as they are extremely self sufficient. (No one likes looking back and seeing their friends all dead.) They also have a companion share option, so feel free to weigh them down with all of your stuff. They can both navigate underwater (can waterbreathe), will levitate, and waterwalk.

If you ever lose them or they become unresponsive/stuck, just use the "Command Ring" they will give you. You can ring the black bell located at where you originally found them to recall them to you. You can also get another ring from the bell in case you lose yours.

They may seem overpowered at lower levels, but they will hold her own well on higher levels and harder difficulty settings.

(Recommended for Higher-Leveled Players.)

(I am thinking of making another file for lower-leveled characters to use or one that levels with the player.)

*More information can be found on their corresponding Nexus pages.*

Anyway, please check them out and let me know if you enjoy them! I am planning on making other creature companions, as there are just not enough.

Grats on both releases!

As promised, I made https://youtu.be/2niiKQkt6F8.

I enjoyed running around with Prixi.

The only criticisms I could make are the following:

- the bell is really big and stand out a lot. Not a major problem as most player will never return to the cave entrance once they've cleared it.

- Prixi is cute, the lighter blue spots could have a more scaly / leathery texture maybe?

- Prixi suffers from the cliff racer lack of agility when it comes to frying in tight places or between trees, nothing you can do there though.

- add a short quest to find Prixi, maybe with a rumour about an odd cliff racer that may or may not be dangerous and directions to find Prixi who would be a bit further from Seyda Neen.

I have not tried your second mod yet but I saw you used the same colour scheme so I wondered if your were planning to make a larger mod, a menagerie of sort?

It would be cool to have a number of creature companions that share the same sort of mystical properties / origins and then the player has to catch them'all find them all and learn of their origins through of number of quests.

Anyhow, grats again on your first mods :)

Thank you for the video! My internet is terrible atm, so I will have to watch it later on ^^ Do you mind if I include this video on the Nexus page?

And thank you for the feedback.

I originally made the bell huge for myself so I could find it easily, but yeah, too big XD I will resize it and maybe use a different activator that doesn't look like it's just floating. XD

I had the spots on an overlay layer, but the black sections were too dark to do it right, it seems. I was thinking of making them glowmap, but I have yet to figure out how to correctly implement that feature. But I was dumb and didn't save the SAI files for the new textures, so I will have to remake them (easy enough, though.) I am looking into making/getting higher-resolution textures for her, as they're pretty blurry on the default CR tex.

And I noticed that, too. D: At least she will teleport to you. Do all fliers suffer from that issue, or just cliff racers? I would like to know for future reference if I make more flying companions.

I was planning on that eventually, but do not know how to do quests as of yet. I will totally look into that, as that would be a really cool idea. I have a bit of brainstorming done for that, already, but have not included it. I vaguely hinted at there being this strange ruin located somewhere that does something to the creatures living there (it's in that letter on the dead Dark Elf - Kazian - found near Prixi), making them innately magically imbued/gifted.

I hope to do more in the future! Your help is greatly appreciated! :)

I will probably make all of my companions similar colors, as I have a huge weakness for blue, greyscales, and purple. :P Connecting them though said quest would be a nice feature. :D

I hope you'll like it, I am fairly new to this so feedback is welcome.

I am looking forward to the next companions and the quests.

You could check thttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRcQaeekgWs, it covers everything you'll need to make a quest.

Thank you again! I got to watch your demo, and it was very nice! And I wish my PC was good enough to run distant lands; mine would probably implode. XD

I will definitely look into that; I would love to attach a questline to my companions sometime. I will have to pick a day to devote to that lengthy video :D

I always found computer programming enjoyable, and now I have something fun to apply it to. Never thought I'd ever touch the Construction Set. XD I stopped playing MW for about a year and just got into it again; so much to do! I've barely touched the vanilla content and have been indulging in the plethora of mods available. I know I'm kind of blathering, but it's nice to find something I really enjoy, and I've met some very kind people. It's oddly difficult to find help on certain topics on your own.
