LET'S MAKE THIS WORK PEOPLE!

Okay, now as anyone could see there are HUNDREDS of tech threads floating around in CD - ranging from questions about graphics hardware, to questions about pricier graphics hardware and other tech such as monitors, hard drives and Processors to announcement threads of new technology and more. (I accede - I'm not being very eloquent here)

Any questions you have, tech news or ANYTHING related to buying/selling/information/announcements of new hardware should go here.

For example, if you come to the forums to ask "What is the better graphics hardware" or "What sort of RAM should I put in my PC?" then it should go here - I'm a little hazy, I know - but please keep all those graphics card and tech questions to one thread! Please!
So here's the summary, all:

  • Announcements and queries on new or unreleased tech
  • Benchmarks and results of hardware/discussion
  • Questions on what sort of hardware you need/want for your machine
  • Questions about existing tech and/or function
  • Pricing and recommendations

Should be kept to THIS THREAD.

Oh and PLEASE, if you want us to "Build" you a PC, please indicate the following:
1.) your budget in your country's currency
2.) what country you reside if not listed in your avatar area
3.) pre-assembled PC? ...or can you build your own?
4.) what is needed other than the PC tower? Monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard, Windows OS disc? All these can jack up the price.
5.) product preferences, preferred seller, and intended aim

but please, no "I want teh superererest Peecee evar1!!!!11!1", because really, only Bill Gates has that much moolah.

And, speaking of building your own PC, two sets of good how-to videos from Newegg:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_56kyib-Ls&feature=relmfu

Thanks to SpankyTheElf for finding these additional ones:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CStOC0hET8 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3buj5cIh2Bs&feature=related

This has been A-okayed by CCNA for all who were wondering - it's up to you to stop filling CD with the same topics again and again that ask what the most powerful card in existence is so you can (not) buy it.

If you feel you have a question or can answer one - please feel free to do so.

Thanks all.
Adding more links shortly, thank you for your patience.

(Threads 1-85 have been all pruned, may they rest in peace)

I had a bit of trouble yesterday when I installed Dropbox and Google Earth, they both couldn't connect to their servers. My first thought was to blame my anti-virus firewall and then to blame Win 10 but neither of them were at fault. Turns out MSI and their Killer Network Manager was the offender, the driver is integrated into it but you can download just the drivers on their own. I wasted a lot of time searching the web for answers and found a lot threads without any concrete answers so I thought I'd mention it, something to keep in mind if you ever get connection issues.

I've got a problem with svchost.exe continually running at 24/25 %. Games are performing badly of course. It may have something to do with trying for hours today to get a new Asus Xonar U3 to work on my Win 7 64 bit OS and failing, the drivers caused a lot of sound problems. I uninstalled them with Revo uninstaller so any remnants should be gone.

I've checked with Malwarebytes and Bitdefender and nothing untoward was reported. Opened up msconfig and non of the running programs seemed suspicious except for perhaps Nalpeirion Licensing Service - not sure what that's connected to.

In task manager I've tried clicking go to services on svchost and these are the highlighted processes:

wuaserv

Winmgmt

Themes

ShelHWDet...

SENS

Schedule

ProfSvc

MMCSS

LanmanServer

lphlpsvc

Browser

BITS

Trouble is task manager doesn't show which one of these services running under svchost is the culprit, it doesn't show cpu activity for each one.

I'm completely out of ideas here, any suggestions would be very welcome. I don't think a system restore would do the trick as I installed and uninstalled the Asus drivers a number of times and I don't seem to have any restore points from before I first installed the driver.

Killer Network Manager isn't causing issues for me, but its not exactly the most stable of applications.

Make sure you don't have the NDU memory leak, since that might be present if you have Windows 8/10 and Killer Ethernet adapter.

If your Non-paged pool is over 300MB or so (at desktop) then you'll need to modify the registry to fix it.

Most likely its the wuaserv (Windows Updater). It can use about that much CPU utilization when downloading the pre-installed updates and/or drivers. If your sound device isn't loading the correct drivers or cannot complete the installation it could cause the process to hang/loop. Try removing the hardware.

I removed it a few hours ago, along with the Asus drivers. Easy to do as it's only a USB soundcard.

For the past few weeks I've been using a very cheap USB soundcard, just plug and play and then today plugged in the Asus instead. I wonder if Windows installed two separate drivers of its own and they're conflicting somehow?

I tried ending the svchost process and watched what would happen - after a couple of minutes a process called TrustedInstaller showed 20% activity then svchost sprang back to 25%. Maybe it's connected?

Alright, so I posted a thread earlier looking for some new build advice, and have the below:

At the advice of others, I'll change my PSU to something else, perhaps http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151121. The only reason being the shop I'll be purchasing from doesn't carry the suggestion below:

Thanks for this! I think I will most likely be overcloking my CPU a couple of years down the line, hence the K model so I think I'll stick with the 6600k for now. Also, thanks for the suggestion - why do I need to go for a better PSU? What's wrong with the one I linked in my original post? I really don't know and am genuinely interested. :) Oh and I listed the MSI GTX 1070 since someone already gave one to me :D

I really advice against Seasonic. Corsair upper tier are much better and reliable.
