Black screen in MGE XE : III

I'm having a very frustrating problem with MGE XE. I decided to play Morrowind again, so I got MGSO and went through with the whole install and when I get to actually playing it, I get a black screen. There's about a second of audio and then nothing else. It doesn't say it stopped responding, it just does nothing. I tried running things as administrator and in compatibility mode to no avail.

The game runs fine when I open up MGEXEgui.exe and check the "turn off MGE" button, but then I don't get distant lands. I don't think it's any specific feature causing me trouble because disabling things individually (even turning all the items off, but technically leaving MGE on) still leaves me with a black screen. Only turning it completely off seems to work.

My steam overlay is off as well. I also got a non-steam copy just to check if it was an issue with steam and had the same exact problem.

Has anybody else dealt with this? Am I missing something obvious or is this an insurmountable hardware problem? I'm using a Windows 7 gaming laptop with a GTX 560M, if it helps.

MGSOv3 has an outdated version of MGEXE and MCP. Idk if the new versions fixed said issue but you should get the http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/26348/? and see if they work regardless.

I downloaded the newest version of MGE XE and I still have the same issue. But I discovered something. The game actually managed to launch, it moved on to the loading screen, where the original background was up for a second before turning blue. The loading times also took a really long time. Once the loading was finished the title page opened, but again the background quickly changed, this time to white. The title screen itself was running at like sub 1 fps, and I alt-tabbed out, causing it to crash. I haven't gotten it run since, it just keeps giving the black screen now.

Do you have a second monitor hooked up? Disconnect it if you do.

Can you post a dxdiag (preferably via pastebin or spoiler tag) as well of screenshots of your MGE settings? Try regenerating distant land as well. Btw, are you sure none of your other apps have an ingame overlay? The most recent version of MGEXE should be able to run with an overlay (such as the Steam overlay) but I found that playing with the overlay killed my FPS. Apps like Discord and Evolve also have ingame overlays, which may be your problem.

Hmm, your computer should be able to run the game with MGE fine. What I'd suggest is ticking the "Windowed Mode" box in the MGE XE display tab and making sure "Borderless Window" remains ticked. Then go into your Distant Land settings and reducing the Distant Land draw distance to 4 Cells, then post the results.

Using borderless windowed mode at 4 cells still gave the same black screen. I'll be getting a new PC at some point, so I guess I'll just have to hold out till then. Thanks for the help.
