Redguards, the true badasses of Tamriel

Post » Wed Sep 28, 2016 7:39 pm

Open question to all forumites: is it just me or does the fun indeed get svcked out of the thread/room when folks start talking about a "Master Race"?

OP: I understand your enthusiasm for the Redguards and the Dornish, but you can't just lump two completely different groups together. The Redguards and Dornish stories do have some vague similarities but they are not the same story (by the way, Yokuda sank into the ocean due to a cataclysmic event, making it more like Valyria). The only thing definite they share is aesthetics and common inspiration from real world cultures. When you group two completely different peoples together based on some minor similarities, you devalue the experience of those people that shaped them into two unique cultural identities.

lol are you seriously just brushing aside the fact both the Yokudans and Rhoynar departed their homelands after a disaster, settled in a desert region, are the dark skinned peoples of their respective worlds, were conquered but revolted then negotiated terms to join their conquerer's empire peacefully etc?

I'm not making the arguement Hammerfell IS Dorne, but the similarities are not neglible nor few. That is clear for anyone to see.

and yes, Redguards are the master race. I'm afraid that is simple fact

Oh ok, it was that first comment that confused me, because that's exactly the argument I thought you were making.

Also, I'm not "brushing aside" that the stories do have similarities, I admitted as much in my last post. I just don't think you can ignore the differences either.

And no, Redguards being the Tamrielic "Master Race" is opinion, not fact. They are unquestionably badass though ;)

I don't see that much middle eastern stuff there. I see more Numidian, Carthaginian( the phoenician stuff was not prevalent later i think) and later moors vibe. More african than middle eastern.

My first Oblivion character was a Redguard - A sword and shield warrior.

Hammerfell in Daggerfall had the more middle eastern style architecture and camels.

If it is obvious sarcasm, then it can be funny. I sometimes like to joke that Argonians are the Master Race because that is my favorite race and what I primarily play as in TES. It's when people legitimately get on a high horse, such as the "PC Master Race" crowd (I personally prefer playing on PC, but it is ridiculous to assume you are better than other people because of what you play video games on and refuse to acknowledge any benefits of playing on consoles) that it gets annoying and svcks the fun out.

Wait a minute, I thought MY opinion was fact!

Redguards own. One of the coolest races with the coolest culture in the series. They're my favorite after the Dunmer.

Are you sure? Think of saving Hammerfell for last! What new tech will come along in the next ten, twenty, or thirty years?
