Looking to get a new router, any suggestions?

Currently, I am using a TP-Link 300 mbps Wireless N Router, Model TL-WR841N for my laptop, and it is garbage. Every so often I'll have to disconnect from it and reconnect just to load a webpage. I've been looking at routers and am not really sure what would be compatible with my laptop.

Here's the specs for my laptop:

Model: Asus G75VW

CPU: 3630QM Intel Core i7

HDD: 750GB 7200R SATA

RAM: DDR3 1600 4GB

OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit

WLAN: CB-802.11BGN WW + BT4.0

I've been looking at routers by Asus, Lynksys, and some other brands that I can't remember off the top of my head. I've also been told that if the router is 5GBs, then it won't work with my laptop. So, any suggestions would be welcome.

I bought an http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC56U/ about 1.5 years ago, and I'm extremely pleased with it. It been on 24/7 since then and I've had zero issues with it. The only times when the connection been down, are the few times I've been doing the firmware updates.

The only complaint I've read about it is that the range is somewhat poor, but since I live in an apartment it's not an issue for me. But it might be worth considering if you live in a house.
