Mods and DLC Content

Been gone from Oblivion for a while, wanted to come back and play but not the vanilla, found a site that listed 10 best mods. Found and downloaded them all. Read and printed out every description. read all the readme's. I've gone thru almost 50 pages and it's mind boggleing. Played the vanilla with 4 different characters, now its boring. Wanted to spruce it up. Any good tech want to help. Hate to quit on it. Mods were Unofficial OB Patch, Obscuros Ob Overhaul, Unique Landscapes, Francescos creatures and items, deadly reflex, Quarls Texture Pack 3, Darnified UI, Naturnal Environments, Martigens Monster Mod. Any help would be appreciated. What all am I going to need and what order should I download. Reinstalled the GOTY version. Nothing else. Thanks.

First you are going to need a mod manager. I recommend learning how to use Wrye Bash.

Very useful if you want all the overhauls you listed. With wrye Bash you'll be able to manage the install order between mods and the load order. BOSS will also sort your load order for you:

https://boss-developers.github.io/

You can install directly all the mods you mentionned with WB, except for Darnified UI. You'll need to use OBMM for this mod:

http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/2097/?

Install first the Unofficial patches. Don't forget to install the UOPs for the DLCs if you have them. Then QTP3, and then the patch for UOP and QTP3.

If you are new to modding I don't recommend starting with a mix of Martigens Monster Mod, Francescos creatures and items, Obscuros Ob Overhaul. they require special patches (FCOM installation and bashed patch) to work fine together. Maybe you should start with OOO only, it is easier to install. "Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul" is also a very good overhaul which mixes well with OOO and is easy to install with Wrye Bash.

For Unique Landscapes don't forget to install the compatibiltiy patches with OOO or FCOM. You'll find them on the UL compatibility page:

http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/35230 is an excellent pictured guide for Wrye Bash. Although, the guide seems to be somewhat outdated, but most features still exist and are useful to learn how to use them.

Also, make sure to install the latest stable Wrye Bash (the last link in this http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1612572-wrye-bash-thread-112/#entry25268144) and check that thread for futher updates.

As for good mods I would recommend anything from these mod collections along with a couple of other good mods.

http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/3024-relzbetawipz-arthmoors-collection/ (especially Alternative Beginnings, VERY popular)

http://lovkullen.net/Emma/oblivionbyemma.htm (especially Companion Vilja, VERY popular)

http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/searchresults/?quicksrc_name=File+name&quicksrc_auth=TheNiceOne&quicksrc_game=101 (Dynamic Maps is a must have mod)

http://www.theassimilationlab.com/forums/topic/15105-relz-oblivion-xp/ (requires Kyoma's http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/32200 and shadeMe's http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/26510 for troubleshooting)

http://www.theassimilationlab.com/forums/topic/14882-relz-weather-all-natural/ (AndalayBay took over after Arthmoor had retired from Oblivion modding)

http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/21862 (must have mod)

http://www.theassimilationlab.com/forums/topic/14793-relz-cobl/ (updated overhaul)

http://www.theassimilationlab.com/forums/topic/14830-relz-elsweyr-anequina/ (Iliana released an updated version before retiring from modding)

http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/11280 (I recommend to install it via http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/32277)

I may have forgot a mod or two.

Thanks to both of you for having replied. Have a place to start. Know a little of OBMM but will have to learn Wyre Bash. Should be fun, not on a schedule. Retired, bad health. Need to keep the mind working. If I can learn to fix my own computer, should be able to learn this. Done a little with the construction set, but built off what was there. Just takes a little longer for things to penetrate. Again a big thank you to both of you for responding. Have a great day.

Certainly does keep your mind working, both installing mods and creating them. I'm personally grateful to Oblivion for getting me back into a lot of stuff, like coding, I've been neglecting for a long time. Cheers you up immensely.

Anyway, don't do what I did the first time, which was like, basically, everything at once. What a mess. Just took baby steps after the inevitable re-install, including getting acquainted with Wrye Bash. Can't say things are totally stable, but then I'm always meddling...

Oh, with regard to stability, be sure to deploy http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/23208/ as soon as you can. There is a https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/109511-oblivion-stutter-remover/ about it which often offers useful tips and answers questions.
