Converting Hirelings to Followers

Post » Fri Mar 03, 2017 4:23 am

Been a looong time since I did this, and even then it was only once. Being an RP player I like to think my character can win over and convert any mercenary who comes with him to his ways, as in permanently. As a result they'd become loyal followers and drop their money hungry ways. So, how do I use the console to convert a hireling follower into a basic follower?

The only difference between the two comes into play if you dismiss them. The hireling wants to be paid again to re-join you. While they're followers, they're just followers.

So are you asking for a way to dismiss a hireling that isn't a "full" dismissal? Or is "just don't ever dismiss them" good enough?

I like to leave followers behind in my numerous homes and only take certain other followers with me on quests, so yes, I'd like to fully dismiss followers without having to rehire them. There's also the factor that the follower mod I have only gives an option to call all followers who're in my service, so I need to fully dismiss followers that I don't want at that moment.

Is that it? Nothing else, like a code to make them a normal follower? I don't want to make them so I can't recruit them at all.

If it's a hireling you've already hired and let be managed by your follower mod, then the console code PrinceShroob posted should work by itself.

The actual list of necessary changes is longer, but it's relying on the fact that your follower mod should've already done the bulk of those changes already once you hired them.

Edit: and hoping that the follower mod doesn't completely undo those changes when you dismiss the follower... leaving them with no hire OR follower option at all.
