The door.....where's the door?

Ok I am trying to create access to an unused vanilla building in Freeside, I can put a door in the empty doorway just fine in GECK problem is it won't show up in game :banghead: nor will the rubble piles I have put in front of the doors either ...... this sounds stupid but why is there no door there to begin with in GECK http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss326/bigcrazewolf/geck%20stuff/2ndpic.jpg but in game this is what shows up http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss326/bigcrazewolf/geck%20stuff/1stpic.jpg ........ I should just use a building that's not used and replace the static door with my own but I want to use this building :shrug:

post the X,Y cell location and, I will see if I can add a door to the building to see if I can diagnose the issue.

This problem is frightening me. :unsure:

OK I know where the X and Y boxes are in the cell view window but where is the information? and how to I get it to show? btw it's in FreesideWorld in FreeSideKingsCorner cell it's close to the building where the NCR hands out food and there's a raised lifeguard type of building kinda behind the "empty" building.

locate the building, select it in the render window, In the cell view window you'll see a blue hi-lighted cell saying something like "-11, 14", that is the cells X,Y location. When I have those numbers I can test the cell properly.

I'm really sorry, I forgot about your issue. :facepalm: I just spent the afternoon looking at freeside and, know exactly where your working. I'll do a test right now and, let you know my results.

Sorry again for another delay! HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" started as soon as I said I would look into this. :brokencomputer: (My favoret era is 1920's through the 1950's. :celebration: ) Now that it is over I've done a little dirty test, all worked fine for me. I'm still not sure why your having issues! If you would upload your esp to a file share site or, PM me with an email address, I will look at your work to see where you've gone wrong. (No offense intended but,) I will also tell you of potential mod issues if I find any, i.e. deleted refs or, any other simple f***ups. :facepalm: (just want to help with compatibility and to support the community! :P )

Yeah best way is to post the ESP and give us some cell coordinates, I'm curious to see it myself (Cev is fixing, I don't want to Ninja him, I'm just curious as to what happened to the door!)

What is weird is that when I loaded the geck and clicked on the use info for this building and then if you double click on the top entry in the use info box it takes you to the building and all looks good.
Well if you double click on the bottom entry in the use info box it takes you to the building and some of the stuff is missing.Weird.Anyone else notice this?
So my question is are you trying to mod the top entry or the bottom entry in the use info box?

The building is used twice because there are two sections of freeside. the one in the king's portion of Freeside is just a dummy that you can see over the wall. The active one is in the other section which is playable.

I want to thank Cev for helping me out with my issue....he really helped a idiot out :rofl: and just in case anyone pulls a me :facepalm: in the future read this


Your issue was incredibly simple and, at the same time totally understandable, you weren't doing anything wrong from an FO 3 standpoint but, FNV was designed by a different team. The only reason I figured it out so fast was because I spent most of sunday afternoon studying how Freeside was designed. It is built in 3 separate worldspaces "FreesideFort", "FreesideWorld" and, "FreesideNorthWorld", the devs built it this way to help with performance issues . You attached your door to "FreesideWorld" which contains cells like "The King School" and, also had a dummy train station that the player doesn't have access to "you just see it over the walls". You needed to connect to "FreesideNorthWorld", this worldspace is the active playable area around the station. When looking at the different worldspaces you'll notice the inactive areas don't have much roads or, sidewalks because they can't be seen from behind the active areas walls.
