developers: have you noticed YET that many of us can't even

Post » Thu Dec 09, 2010 6:58 am

This is now the third day I have made posts on this forum attempting to figure out why I, and many, many others can't even launch this game, at all. When we push "play" we get a few different varieties of crashes.

Until this problem is solved for the great many of us who aren't even able to play the game whatsoever, you NEED to fix this bug. I have attempted twice now to get a refund for my Steam purchase, and it seems those at Steam have no regard for the fact that you cannot sell people a broken product and then offer no refund on it: ever, for any company, whatsoever.

In one of the several impersonal formulaic responses Steam has sent back to me, which was of no use whatsoever, they suggested I read this official forum post:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1125221-please-read-from-the-teams-at-obsidian-and-bethesda/

However, there is nothing in that patch announcement about the biggest problem at all: the fact that most of us can't even play it! Forget quicksaves, forget buggy models: nothing! We cannot even launch this POS computer program without an instantenous crash! I have never in 15 years of purchasing PC games had a game that, even after attempting a dozen or so fixes, wouldn't even launch in the first place! This is COMPLETELY inexcusable, and that we can't get refunds on this 100% non-functional game HAS to have repercussions for these scam artists who put out this extremely buggy game. I'm livid with outrage, and am from now on an outspoken detractor of all three of these companies.

I for one am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and I urge all others who have endured this stupidity to do the same!

I'd love an answer to this myself. What are your specs BTW?

I'm in to report this. I at least want some sort of response and my money back. Don't release games that aren't finished.

Folks, look at the forum descriptions here. The main function of the Tech Discussion Forum is for gamers to discuss tech matters with other gamers. Official Support is elsewhere. Yes, there is a certain amount of Bethesda oversight of selected threads, and some rare appearances of comments from interested company personnel. However, that is intentionally rare.

Messages here are supposed to be either asking for suggestions, or answering requests for suggestions. Straight complaints with no specific USER replies to tech type questions expected are technically off topic. If you feel a need to blow off steam, take it to Community Discussions, not here.

Now, just because I know how the place is designed doesn't mean I think that I am an official moderator. Not on these forums, I'm not. Here, I'm just a citizen who likes seeing things going the way that they ought to be going.

Agreed. Let's all report them to the BBB.

Gorath: with all due respect, many of us, including me, having been attempting to get down to the nitty gritty of this particular bug -- an immediate crash to desktop after pressing play to launch the game. After three days of getting more technical than I'd like to get, I think it's time for we who are here and talking about this issue to discuss further options. Hence, we are DEFINITELY on topic!

This has now become a petition thread with the incitement to report to the BBB. Petitions are not permitted on these forums.
