Thats it for me

Well... got the new patch and sadly it did not live up to my expectations.

The game is still jerky, can not walk in a straight line for more than a few yards before it freezes for split second.

In stead of freezing and forcing a restart like before it blackes out causing my ps3 to reboot.

Looks like a quest patch at best.

Sorry Bethesda, my patience has run out. I'll check in from time to time to see if you guys will manage to fix this. I think you would if you could therefore I must come to the concluesion that you simply can't. To bad it could have been grait.

No hard feelings, I know what its like to bite of more than I can chew.

Boot in safemode and restore your file system, the patch won't clear out data that was already corrupted. But restoring the file system will clear the corrupted data from old saves/

I guess I'm done too. I sank 120 bucks into the FONV collector's edition and guide, then another 300 bucks for a new PS3 when the game bricked my trusty old 80 gig. This game could've been great, but I never got to play it long enough to find out. 30 hours in, THE 1ST TIME, the NCR glitched and constantly killed me so I started over. I got to THE SAME EXACT POINT and it killed my system. Loved Oblivion and FO3, but this is a little much. Pretty sure New Vegas is beyond repair. Guess I'll just have to wait for Borderlands 2!!!

Mine's going up on Craigslist first thing in the morning. I'm done with this crap, too. Luckily, there's enough svckers left who want the game that I'll still get close to what I paid for it.

I'm tempted to dispose of mine too. At least the PS3 version, anyway. The Steam version's non returnable which means I'm stuck with a poor quality buggy game.

This whole thing echoes the Fallout 3 situation - the game was pretty crash prone, and yet it was never really fixed. We got a couple of patches, and then silence.

I think before you people jump to any dramatic conclusions you should at least wait and see what Bethesda has to say...It would svck to be sitting there tomorrow wishing you didn't sell your copy because you just heard that they released the real patch :brokencomputer:

I'm with the OP.

I haven't touched the game for a weeks due to the complete inability to move more than a few feet before a hard crash.

So when I heard that the 1.02 patch was out I eagerly loaded up FNV and downloaded the patch. Everything went fine during the update.

I then loaded my most current save and within less than 10 seconds (literally) BOOM, CRASH!! Complete freeze.

I really loved the game but it is simply impossible to play in it's current state.

I hate to say it but I don't think Bethesda *can* fix the problems.

So, unfortunately, that's it for me.

Too bad Gstaff confirmed this was "the" patch with his little change log, huh? Obsidian continues to be a joke, and I have decided to consider Bethesda the same now since they seem fine with all this crap.

My PS3 copy sold as of 30 minutes ago, and I'm much, much happier.

Two Worlds II will have to be better than the original, which had more than its fair share of bugs, and patches!

If you are serious about getting a refund and no longer wish to possess the game then I'd try to return it to the retailer which it was purchased from in order to receive a full refund. This will, of course, result in them turning you away so that you can then file a complaint with BBB.org.

Obsidian, Bethesda, and ZeniMax are most likely not listed as members of the BBB but most of the time the retailer will be. This route will at least get you your money back for a sold-as broken product and cause the retailer to think twice about ordering products from Obsidian/Bethesda/ZeniMax.

If anyone knows of a better way to receive a full refund I'd love to hear it as punishing the retailer with a BBB complaint isn't exactly fair but it seems to be the only method which will result in a full refund.

I did that and it still froze up. Thanx for the good suggestion tho, it did help my ps3. Goodbye Bethesda/Obsidian, no more preorders for me.

Make sure you are aware of and meet the following:
PlayStation 3 Technical Info:
PlayStation 3 Fallout 3 requires 4.2 GB for stored Game Data, and an additional minimum of 8MB of hard drive space for save data. There is no Install option as the Game Data is cached in real time during play.

And someone else suggested that cleaning their disc solved their problems.

I'm not arguing that folks don't have problems, they do but just make sure you have tried cleaning your disc, your machine is not over heating and that you have enough space. After googling PS3 freezes I found literally 1000's of posts for many games with complaints about freezing and stuttering and those things were what seemed to help folks most.

I am sure the devs will keep a watchful eye for continuation of these problems and will continue to work on a way to resolve problems. Including what you have done to trouble shoot in your posts will assist greatly in resolving these issues.

I have played dozens of PS3 games, and keep my machines and discs in immaculate condition, unsoiled and well ventilated. Fallout 3, Fallout 3 GOTYE and Fallout: New Vegas are the only games I've had crash and require a hard reboot. And they do it consistently with New Vegas being easily the worst. Oblivion never totally crashed on me, but it chopped and lagged like nobody's business. I love these games, but this is not a coincidence.

/this for sure.

Unfortunately the memory cache problem with this game is the same for all the Havok engine powered games and won't be corrected by Bethesda/Obsidian. They can't. They tried to limit the problem by making FLNV much smaller in regards to loaded cache, but it didn't get rid of the cumulative problem. Even though there are no large fights or areas in FLNV and even though they cut the Strip into three sections, it still adds up if you move around.

Reset your game often, even restart the ps3, no less than once an hour. I usually restart the game every thirty minutes or so when I make a new clean save. I move around quite a bit, dropping stuff off at Goodsprings and making a caravan cards run to Nash, Chet and the Outpost, so my cache builds up quick. I notice performance issues after about 45 minutes of my style of play, so 30 minute save and reset works pretty good. Still lock up every once in a while. bleh.

I'm done with this game as well. The patch did nothing to address what I consider to be the most serious problem of the game, that of the constant freezing. I could live with some script errors, but because of the constant freezing, the game is just unplayable and who knows how much damage it may be causing my ps3 console by the constant hard reboots I have to use.

I'm going through and doing some routine "clean-up" of this board. There's a lot of threads on the first few pages - all, essentially, to do with feedback related to the newest patch/the success (or lack therefore) of the patches. Please go ahead and continue this in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1147839-patch-102-does-it-even-work/, which I'm keeping open for that purpose.

Thanks!
