WTF Bethesda?! Why even bother?!?! I want my money back!

Post » Mon Dec 13, 2010 12:38 am

Why even bother releasing a 20 MB patch that obviously doesn't do anything??? I want my money back. Let me know when the game is actually working and I might come back and finish it, but I want a full refund and I KNOW I am entitled to one. Tell me where to call, who to write, where to ship your useless disc back to, but give me my $59.99 + tax back.

Well I guess we'll find out whats going on tomorrow but there's no way it took them about a week to make a 19mb patch and it takes them almost 2 months to make a patch that is 1mb larger it cant be the "real" patch

I am guessing this was a "prep" patch for the "big" patch. Don't kill my optimism...its very rare for me.

Could be why Bethesda hasn't said anything yet.

I hope that's the reason. Also, love the song you used as a name.

I'm wasn't hoping for a fix for the freezes. That seems to be a problem inherent to the game engine, as TESIV did it and FO3 did it. Granted I have had fewer issues than some (my game, on average, only froze up every 5-6 hours before my old 60GB died), but I have reconciled with it. We shouldn't have to deal with it, but it is what I expected.

What I am hoping for, what I feel I am entitled to, is a fix for things like Ed-E disappearing, mission critical NPCs going missing, dialogue options not showing up, etc. There's really no excuse for it.

What I am wondering now is if this is the "comprehensive" patch, or a pre-patch of some kind. I just got a new PS3 and want to start a new game. If this is just a pre-patch, I'll hold off until the bulk of it comes. If this is it, I'll just svck it up and start.

Working on getting details for you guys today.

If you're experiencing issues with your save file, you might also want to roll back to saves to issues popping up. Once I have the notes released, that should give you a better understanding of what was covered.

Just read the changelist. Multiple issues were fixed.

Furthermore a 20 MB patch that fixes issues without adding new textures and so on is a damn big patch. Nearly everything is "just" code.

Waiting till I try it out. I absolutly hate to use patches on saved games so I'm finishing my current run first.

I have 2 answers to that question. Yes, in that they actually fixed a lot of stuff, and no, because it seems they cannot fix the freezing. I restored my file system and started a new game and it still freezes. Goodbye Fallout.

Have you tried clearing the game cache? That might help. If so, then I don't know what to say. I've yet to play the game, but freezing is certainly a problem I can overlook despite its annoyance.

The freezes are an inherent flaw. I don't believe it CAN be fixed. Also they only seem to effect a portion of the fanbase. I get some freezes...sometimes several in a row, in just a few minutes, even after hard resets. But I can also go for days on end (very literally), across several game sessions with out a single lock up. I am willing to admit though that I save at least once per hour and I almost always make new save files (I try to avoid overwrites at all costs) and I save and reset my PS3 if I seem to be getting higher than average graphical stutter. So with all of my precautions I might just be heading off the problem but my wife isn't nearly as careful as I am and she gets hardly any lockups AT ALL...on the same machine. THAT will drive you up a wall.

There's been a lot of threads on this board, all dealing with essentially the same topic. We do try to keep the number of duplicate threads to a minimum, as much as possible. Please continue this conversation over in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1147839-patch-102-does-it-even-work/

Thanks!
